| Quote ="Starbug"For all good men to come to the aid of the party
A quote originally used as a drill for typists
But now very relevant to the situation we find ourselves in
' Now IS the time '
For all who have any involvement in Leigh Centurions be they owners/directors/players and fans to stand up and be counted
We poor much scorn on our neighbours from the borough with their use of an early exit when things are not to their liking
But a couple of years ago when they found themselves in a similar position to where we are now they did ' come to the aid of the party '
We are all dissapointed and unhappy at the way things are going this year , that dissapointment is felt at all levels of the club
I'm sure the players/coaching staff realise they have a job to do now to turn us round and avoid what would be a dissaster for our club
We all wanted to keep promotion to SL , and as part of that we all have to accept that we too can and will move down as well as up , we cannot have the positive without the negative
So if you are a Leigh Centurions RL fan , now is the time to ask yourself what are you going to do , sulk and refuse to go , or stand up to be counted and give as much support to YOUR team as you can in what could become our darkest hour'"
You always speak crap and you haven't let us down again. Well done Starbug!!!!

| I'm all for people paying their money and having their say.
Personally I prefer to just walk away after the game rather than have a right go at the players as they should know how poor they've performed anyway.
That said I'm not against people voicing their opinion if they've paid to get in.

| Got to agree with your point Steve - supporting them is the essential option. Sure, we all felt let down yesterday (and on other occasions this season) and I guess it's anyone's right to react in any way they want. Personally, I won't boo any player, however badly he performs - they still all get my respect for stepping over the touchline, onto the pitch. Also, some positive support could/should work wonders for them - the 'extra' player you hear talked about?
Similarly, it's anyone's right to vote with his/her feet, and stay away. But logically, that will harm the Club. Less people through the turnstiles = less revenue = less options to build a decent squad. However much we would like to spend on a team, we are restricted by the Salary Cap - which is income-based, and we aren't getting much income at the moment, on crowds of less than 2,000 and hardly any home matches!
So, my advice would be to grit our teeth, and get behind the team, then maybe we could be the catalyst that banished the prospect of relegation.
But hey, it's a free country, so you are all entitled to your choice.

| We do need a rallying of some description as on & off the pitch this club is in a right mess.
From one of the leading lights to relegation dog fights.
Changes MUST be made NOW to avoid the oblivion that will be Championship 1.
The club need to start with loanee players or if they are completley skint come out and say it, a bit of fan / club "bonding" (to use Left wing PC talk) is seriously needed to get this club out the dumps and on the up.
As a rugby club without fans your nothing , as a fan without a rugby club your lost.
Time for change, time for a rolling up of sleeves from everyone at the club and its supporters, it starts at the top so over to you Alan , Arthur etc - what are you going to do to get us out of this mess and rally support

| for me and the wife watching leigh on sundays was a full day out for us yes im going back to turzes days (been a supporter long before that but the wife wasnt so converted her from pies to leigh ) it was a very enjoyable day you met your friends before the match in a pub (before they started to close)talked about what was going to happen in the game who was playing or not .then have the walk from the pub down to hilton park exited in not knowing whats on offer, you get in and go to your usual place where other people go so you feel you at a place with friends supporters and familiar faces.you shout for the usual FORWARD, OFF SIDE
half time comes you stream towards the bar with friends and opposition supporters talking and having a banter with them while queing up for a pint and talking to opposing fans and having a laugh finally you get served but miss the kick off and usually a try but hey part of the fun,go back and watch the game with a beer. win lose fine but you knew you go back to the micky martins bar for a coaches view and a couple of players too which makes you feel better.you look around and see kids getting autographs off there heros, we talk to players and shake there hand either congratulations or comiserations.there is a comedian on or dj getting the party going and a kareoke going on people are having fun and its just not about the game its part of a days nite out.what happened since they stopped the coach and players talking stopped the entertainment and now i and the wife goto lsv watch a game go home no atmosphere no banter nothing we are looking into investing into a more full days entertainment than the 2 hours leigh give us because its so impersonal and sterile going to watch leigh and i cant see it getting any better (too me and the wife it didnt matter if we won or not the complete day is what mattered if we did win then thats bragging bonus for us)but year after year ive been buying season tickets but every year its getting worse now at the lsv its totally gone for us it feels like a chore going to watch leigh because i have paid for it
where did it all go wrong
where has the family (this is my team)atmosphere gone

| Get behind the team/club now as its needed more than ever........... spitting the dummy out and saying that you aint going watching the lads again is not the answer - we are playing crap at the mo but we will come back stronger IMO.
The prob with a lot of people in Leigh is thats its too easy to walk away and sit in the pubs sl***ing the club off instead of getting behind the lads (I see this in my local all the time - talking about 71 and all that), this is 2009.... not 71 - those days are gone so accept it. Its simple maths at the end of the day - more people through the turnstiles = more cash for better players, so saying that you aint watching Leigh again is a bit stupid IMO.
If you want a successfull Leigh playing in SL one day get behind the team and try and bring a few mates with you too boost the crowd.

Are you Phil Coffey?
I'll tell you what, there is no way I would bring / recommend anyone to watch us at the moment because I am so embarassed with what we have to offer. I would actually do the opposite and advise them to stay away until things get better. Some may say that is the wrong way to do things but let's be honest, do you honestly think a potential new fan would ever return after watching this load of cr@p. It would seriously do more harm than good to 'bring a friend' at the moment.

While agreeing with most of the above this bit I dont think is ever really what we need
And my original post was
" Now is the time for all GOOD men to come to the aid of the party "
Those that sit in the pub or all too easily find an excuse are not the ' Good ' , they are the lost , never to return

| Not what we need I know but my view is that if I had brought any old/new fans to a recent game they would have ridiculed us and deffinately not returned for a long while - performances like Sundays do alot of long term damage. I would rather them hang on until (hopefully) we start playing rugby then bring them and maybe they will get hooked?

| I did, I brought 3 on Sunday (and paid for their tickets) ho hum. Don't think they'll be returning anytime soon as its definitely not worth travelling from Stoke to be treated to that.

Thats my sentiments exactly - I cannot ever remember booing a player or the team (except TKL for many a good reason) although my son begs to differ and is sure he has heard me. I do occasionally shout at a player during the game in a none aggressive manner and do not resort to insults if he is constantly under performing, yet I am happy to heap the praise when it is deserved.
I was quiet and down on Sunday, I think at times it was the disbelieve, however, you will all be happy to now know that I am okay again.
