Matt if people are not bothered that fans from other clubs can watch Leigh 40% cheaper than they can and get their kid in for free when they have to pay an extra £5 then i would have to question their sanity or the size of their wallet!

Ive no problem with them doing the offer for SL season ticket holders to attend for a tenner, as long as it doesnt include a kids free entry, what we dont do for our fans we should do for fans of another club.
I dont agree with us doing it for all the championship clubs, why not just do it for the ones offering it to us only?

This is not uniquely aimed at Championship clubs. With respect to Swinton, they struggle to even get their own fans in.

In our case, we are more interested in Wigan, St Helens, Warrington, Salford and Widnes. There ARE fans at those clubs who would be interested in watching Rugby League, nearby.

How many ST holders do Fev have compared to Leigh? which club will benifit more? is it any coincidence the club with the most ST holders have proposed this idea?

What is the ratio for lesser supported clubs i.e batley of ST holders to walk up fans.

ours is roughly 75% walk up 25% ST holders
Batleys will be around 50% spilt i would guess

Who will suffer more with this deal???

After 24 pages, I'm past caring. Let's just see what the crowd is tonight and then there's actually something genuine to base a decision on but I for one applaud the club for thinking of different ways of boosting the crowd and hopefully income if enough people are attracted.

We need to increase our own fan base, ideas on how this is acheiveable Im sure the club would be grateful of.
One thing I know is that ,the kids are the future.

I am not promoting this 'as a member of the PSG'. I am publicising it on behalf of the club, as someone who is helping out with communications.

This is not the PSG's idea. The item was discussed at a PSG meeting on Tuesday. The decision had been made on Monday - before the PSG meeting. I was asked to publicise the idea.

Again personally, I would rather see 3600 folks paying £9 (A simplification, I know) than 1800 paying £18. However, if we reduced the admission to £9, would we get 3600 in?

What have I personally learned from this? People only want 'personal good news' communicating. I can now see that it's just a waste of time and effort communicating anything! Far better let the rumour mill take its course.

Alan I dont think if we went into the town centre and gave away 5000 free tickets we would get that many in!!!!!!
We need to work hard at building the fan base and keep working on it week after week, following each free ticket up with a cheaper then normal ticket etc till their hooked and want to come every game.
We need a family ticket sorting a league match ticket book for those who cant make the friday/thursday games because of work,lets make it hard for fans not to purchase a ticket.

I dont know alan but at least we would be targeting the correct people i.e. people from leigh and potentially converting them into hardcore week in week out fans. This is the only way we will grow our support.

Everyone really needs to let this go now, you have all made your point/concerns heard loud and clear. Some don't like it others think its a good idea and some think it's not a good idea but are willing to see what happens. This thread is just going over and over the same points and not going anywhere lets just get down to the game support the lads and all get behind the team. This thread is actually starting to damage the clubs idea without a single game being played to even see if it works, I for one hope it does and batley bring double what they normally do but if they don't AT LEAST THE CLUB IS TRYING NEW THINGS. 24 pages of moaning isn't doing anyone any good about something that's not even happened yet get the thread locked !!!!
And by the way in 24 pages there only really seems to be 3/4 against the idea in some way.

To me being a Leigh fan is the ultimate roller coaster ride, which I suppose is why we all keep coming back for more. When Arthur pulled out last year in many ways it made for one of the most positive times ever as a fan - LISA memberships showed a massive uplift, the Touchdown Club was launched (both of which are pretty groundbreaking to a club at our level in any sport), Keith showed what an awesome chairman he is, Trevor stepped into the breach, winning the cup etc etc.

The Dunkirk spirit showed by many people in various guises was tremendous, however now we are past crisis point I suppose I for one am hugely frustrated when what to me is a dog of an idea comes out of the club. For me this initiative is an all time low at a time when growing our home support has never been more crucial in order to at least balance the books and push on.

In my business life i've had significant involvement in marketing strategies and the recurring theme in all of these is never do anything which could upset your existing customer base - even notifying them of price increases doesn't necessarily fall into this category as it is how the process is managed and emphasising the quality of the product your customers are paying for and the level of service extended to them. This initiative however does not tick any of these boxes and whilst we are maybe talking this to death I genuinely believe it should be pulled before we end up back to square one.

The best post on this thread by a country mile agree 1 million % with everything you said the board and trevor deserve every bit of praise they have recieved and should recieve along with the work the PSG have done and LISA and everyone else who has pulled together.
