That was just an example Tony if one pays a premium price for a theater ticket do you expect them to occupy the same seats as a bargain ticket, plane ticket etc etc etc. nothing to do with being less or more important just having the extra spare cash, Im not a LISA member and dont expect to get the same benefits that their members get, why should I they are paying for them Im not, If I attend them I usually take along a raffle prize or go in place of our Dave who cant get to all the meetings and I report back to him if there is anything of interest for his Journal article or even pay the £5 they used to charge, but I dont expect to have a vote on anything.

Anyway it would appear people like rumours or 'opinions' better than facts so it's bye bye from me for a while.

I think its fair to say Derek B has turned the Two clubs down,and not Ryan himself.

I am not sure but I think Ryan is under contract for the coming season so it obviously puts him in a strong negotiating position.

Like every other Leyther I hope he stays for a long time as we want him in our side for the Challenge Cup Final in 2021.

But LISA isn't a special club Fred? It was never meant to be a special club. I don't think anyone who joined expected anything from it apart from players on the field in a winning team. The Touchdown is completely different. Now if LISA are now selling this as pro to joining like the coaches that's different but I personally think that these "Fans Forums" should be open to all fans or call them something else. We just can't alienate a single one of them.

I agree Tony, it does seem an attempt to move LISA into a kind of ' membership ' than an independant supporters assoc, other clubs, Bradford being 1 that already work that way

It is good of our club to offer deals to LISA members and if it increases membership good.


We can't attract crowds of Wigan Wire and Saints so if you are a fan and can afford it join and help to bridge that gap.

Bear in mind every penny you contribute goes to the club so it's not about wether you like or dislike this person or that who is on the committee it's about getting a better Leigh side' not just for today but for the long term.

or you could invest your money elsewhere in the club i.e. touchdown,lottery etc,it doesnt make you any less of a fan,nor should it prevent any supporter being allowed to attend fans forums.

Agreed' but although I contribute to the touchdown club and the lottery not all of that goes to the club to sign players.

Just to reiterate every penny a person contributes to LISA does go to the club to sign players.

so why should forums be exclusive to lisa members if you contribute to other forms of investment in the club?Frank you know my reasons for not joining lisa and they will remain private.

It's everyone's choice whether to join or not and always will be .
I personally would love everyone to join as I feel very passionately about it , But because I'm a lisa member I don't expect everyone else to be .

I love Derek to bits but if something happened and he was no longer there we would be left in a situation like when Arthur had to pull out and I just don't want us to end up that way
If all our fans all joined lisa then that would mean we would be safe always as we would be able to cover all the players wages etc
Why should Derek and anyone else have to keep tipping money in let's try and make it so he doesn't have to And he can just steer us in the right direction with his fellow directors

Absolutely nonsensical.

This is really a poor policy and is a pity that it has been done against a background of positive news. I have supported Leigh for over 50 years and one of the great strengths of the club has been the inclusiveness of all kinds of fans.

People will pass their cash over to support Leigh in a combination of a number of different manners, entrance fee, season ticket, Lisa, Leigh TV, merchandise, lottery, half time draw, corporate, programme, sponsorship, voluntary time.

The combination of how fans spend their cash to support Leigh will be a mixture of financial circumstance and choice. To deem only one section of supporter fit to attend fans forums is a divisive policy.

They aren't fans forums they are LISA meetings there is a difference

so what was it? and who is it bothering?

Lisa relaunch who to existing members to increase payments or to get new members from the masses/businesses
Is the suggestion that the club trying to take Lisa over and they become "members" of what
A great last season and exciting prospects on the field for next year but as has always happened at our club the off field, who knows

Tipster I am aware of the difference between a 'fans forum' and a 'LISA meeting'. As the original post said 'fans forum' I took it to be that. If it should have said 'LISA meeting', I have no issue. Could someone clarify which of these the action is:-

1. Only LISA members can now attend 'LISA meetings'.
2. There will be no more 'fans forums' only 'LISA meetings' which only LISA members can attend.
3. There will still be fans forums that all fans can attend and separate LISA meetings that only LISA members can attend.

Did I see mention somewhere that there are some new LISA committee members? Who are they?

I do wonder sometimes if some people actually want a club in Leigh. Something seems to have been lost in translation somewhere and as per usual its time to attack the club and the people who actually made sure there was a club for us to support. Bye bye messageboard and bye bye banter page for the time being.

LISA members can vote if LISA meetings should be open to all and when we vote if we have to I am confident they will be open to all. End of.

No problem with LISA meetings being for LISA members. (I no longer am a member) However, there should be some kind of forum that is open for all FANS to attend.

The OP eluded to all future fans forums being LISA members only.

LISA meetings should be exclusive and have exclusive news and features strictly members only.

A FANs forum is completely different and should be inclusive not exclusive and open to every single fan weather that be Walk up one or two times a season fan or the all singing all dancing fully paid up super fan with Leigh Centurions socks and undies on IMO.

We the committee will decide if and when / any Meetings will be for Lisa members only or not .
Also Thursday was a Lisa meeting and it was combined with a fans forum because it was the Lisa relaunch
We gained quite a few more members .
So a successful meeting in my book........

The club are not trying to take it over, just trying to help us grow, over the last season alone , at least half a dozen member have passed away and that happens most season s ......

We need to replace these with new member s to continue to sponser our player/players


The club have offered some great incentives for just Lisa members

A draw every match for a member to upgrade to cooperate for that game
Another draw for a member to be treated like a director for the day and enjoy a trip with the director to away games

All members will have a chance to watch a training session/ wrestling session etc and listen to the coaches instructions etc.

The mrs and I have been LISA members since it was kicked off by Uncle Mo yonx (how long???) ago.

It was sold to us on the grounds that there would be perks for members e.g. discount on purchases from participating shops.

Almost from the off LISA meetings were attended by non-members and they were supposed to pay £5 to attend. I am sceptical that they did (or at least that they all did) because I was NEVER EVER challenged for proof of membership.

Doesn't affect me much now as I virtually never attend for health reasons, but if the meetings are now open to everybody FOC, then I think that is a break from a (OK minor) founding principle of LISA>

We charged £5 yes for non members and we didn't ask for proof .
However we do know who most members are ( I have a list of all members ) and when the season starts we will have our new membership cards and will be asking for proof from then on in ........

Surely as an independent association, the board shouldn't have any input at all? I thought that was the whole point of being independent.

I joined LISA but cancelled my subscription a few months ago when it ceased to be independent, I switched my money to the lottery.
