As has been said earlier, how can the club make a statement about something that hasn't happened? There is just a handful of people on here getting carried away by something which isn't true, so why should the club have to keep issuing statements against the scare mongers?

I'm sure that when the club have all the details regarding any partnership or link up, they will issue a statement about it.

Thanks Mish - I've given up on thinking of different ways of explaining things. Thank goodness we haven't got a (official!!) Media Manager. He/she would be employed 24 hours a day, making announcements about things that haven't happened.

You know what Alan I will admit that I was definitely getting cold sweats just thinking that my once proud and beloved Leigh were going to make all the above true and jump in to bed with a Super League club.

Leigh have taken players from Wigan under DR basis before and will no doubt do so again. Maybe you could ask Salford or Widnes if Wigan are not your first choice. No one thinks Leigh will twin/partner with Wigan or any other SL club.
Informal arrangements went before over DR and they'll continue.

In the absence of anything official from the club and with people saying there is nothing to worry about I wonder if someone can answer me this question with a factual reply as last season everyone could answer it with 100% accuracy.

At any one time during the next season could we potentially end up with 5 contracted Wigan Warriors RLFC players playing for Leigh Centurions RLFC at any level ?

Well if we can take 5 Pieaters on DC all to play in the same game the answer has to be yes.


What are the chances ? Well I'll bet £50 or more if you like that it never will happen.


The RFL has come up with expanding the DC players available to any one team that applies to all Championship sides .

He or she could then make an announcement that there would be no announcement untill there is an announcement to be made, and this announcement is not admission that there will be an announcement about the announcement.

I was going to do exactly that in the next programme - but there are no more matches left. At least, that's the rumour I heard, (about the season having ended) but nobody at the club was prepared to make an announcemet to that effect!

Topics that people find boring are usually ignored, however this 'boring' thread could have been killed off in its infancy if a simple statement of [ufact[/u had been made by the club.

But the club doesn't make comments on rumours or make any announcements instead their is information from coaches etc saying informal arrangements etc, but you cant dual reg from any other club, Thats not that informal is it.

Fax came and issued a statement about the Barlow to salford rumour to put things to bed so id didn't impact on season ticket sales, Some clubs do some clubs dont, Its not that long till the season starts so it will all come out in the wash, In the meantime i have sent a email to the RFL to ask them who has linked up with who so far as they would know this, If i ever get a reply i will let you know but i dont hold much hope.

It doesnt matter really though as most of the wigan youngsters are not in the same class as some of your squad anyway so its very unlikly you will see 5 unless you get ravaged by injuries which is always a possiblity.

This partnership thing will only help the SL teams and the lower Championship teams who will all be trying anything possible to avoid relegation next year into what is a truely aweful looking league.

Dewsbury, Rochdale, Whitehaven , Hunslet, York,

You can see the pattern and these clubs would have been clammering over each other to get signed up to this.

I have been thinking about the twinning situation and my opinion has mellowed somewhat.

I now believe a twinning with Wigan would be a good idea, I would also like to see a majority shareholding by Wigan as well. It is quite obvious we will never be allowed into SL so surely the best option is to see a few Wigan games at the LSV and watch some of the best youngsters perform week in week out, does it really matter what badge is sewn on the left chest, really.

I realise it would be hard for a few to accept but the majority will come to terms with it, I even believe crowds may increase if the Wigan ST allows access to our games.

There are very few Leythers who would accept twinning with any other club.

Most on this board now realise that at our next fans forum this idea of Leigh twinning will be dismissed as ridiculous. One or two Fax fans need to realise that too but whatever is said Rhino will believe what he wants to believe and if you are as gullible as he is there's not much we can do to help.
