I am delighted with this news.
Chris deserves this sort announcement, its like a new signing for next season in a way, lets face it, Chris is a SL prop, and too stay with us is Big news. He could have gone for the pot of gold and gone elsewere.

Definitely good news but over hyped. A simple statement would have sufficed and killed speculation on various other possibilities.

It kept us on our toes though.

If people speculate and come to all sorts of conclusions, then the club can't help that!



Was it not preferable thought to the usual way these things happen? Where somebody who can't hold their own water comes on here and blerts it into the public domain, often before everything is finalised, and then the club gets it in the neck for being slow on the release of the news?

Your right Dave, Chris does deserve a big up for re-signing but personally it would have been fitting for it to be done in the centre of the pitch in front of all the fans who adore him. If it were me the applause of 2000 fans would make me feel more special.

It does seem at times the club cannot do right for doing wrong in some peoples eyes Andy.

The clubs press release stating that it was a important announcement had everyone wondering. Chris will probably read peoples disapointment that the announcement is that he has signed. The other side of the coin is when any other player re-signs will they get the same treatment. Sorry Andrew the club are wrong on this and it could even build an us and them in the team. I even think that had they done it before the game today it would have probably lifted that dull atmosphere at the LSV . Before anyone says that I'm not happy with his signature you are wrong. I am over the moon.

1st half was really dull. Kicked out on the full from kick off and then 25 minutes of slow, boring, error-strewn rugby just seemed to kill the atmosphere before it even started. Picked up as the game went on though.

so thats paul, bibey, hill and nash all contracted for next year that is fantastic news!!

He's a home grown player and if Widnes are banging on about their local players then let us do likewise.

it's how you see the word IMPORTANT. WE all think of it in different ways, quite obvious on this topic alone. When it was announced earlier in the week, i was thinking something kinda 'administrative' or even an 'ownership' change.

Personally i think its great news. Its clear for everyone to see he's super league quality and his teamates think the same.
Hopefull leigh can get into superleague in 2 years and he will re-sign again!

On another matter seems the message board might be short of players for next week. Be warned I shall play if necessary. You read it here first. Expect they need an old head in the middle and it will improve competition for places.

Well at the end of the day anybody read between the lines and drew the wrong conclusions, that's down to them. The club did nothing but say there would be an announcement it felt important to the long term success of the club.

We can quibble all day long about the use of the term important, but the club believe Hilly to be a very important part of the squad.

The same would have been said if the word big had been used, or major etc. Does that mean we shouldn't hype anything "just in case someone gets the wrong idea"?

As regards a them and us situation, who's to say there isn't already one. When Robbie Paul signed there was a full blown press conference. None of the others had that.

This entire thread has reminded me why I haven't been on here much of late. I get into pointless arguments with folk over nothing much. We're arguing over the word important for christ's sake! And I've typed nearly two hundred words about it in this thread alone. Is my life really that sad?

Balls to them AP. Great publicity idea by the club, and it was a very important annoucement we have just signed the best prop outside of SL for another 2 years!! Oh and the other joint best prop already plays for us! Some on here AP cant stop moaning they cant understand we now have one of the best teams in this league! As for silly rumours well I think my price list earlier in this thread indicates the pure nonsense that blows around, can you believe I got 3 PM's about was AJM returning!!! LOL
