Awesome performance from the Miners, no doubt at all that they'd have won had they not bombed a massive chance at 20-22, but they can sleep easy tonight in that they did themselves proud.

Frank that was Darryl Kay who played for our Reserves and First team from 2007-08.

He had an excellent game, well done too to Danny Jackson and indeed the entire team. They did their club, themselves, their families and the amateur game proud tonight . It's a great shame there wasn't a bigger crowd on.

Darryl Kay son of David also Grandson of John Kay an excellent forward for Leigh in the 50s.

There was a very old photo on another thread on here that showed a Leigh team with a Mr Tabern on it. It must have been Rays grandad or even great grandad. It was his double. I think it was the thread about an Aussie or New Zealand signing.

That would be Walt Tabern, Ray's dad (I think) Rays son also plays Rugby and used to mplay for Leigh East, but recently has had injury problems, he was/is a promising back row forward.

Robinson, Tabern, Owen............those were the days.
