| Well...................that was very impressive
I always fancied us to win but in a really tight affair and possibly a bonus point to the Dogs. But after a slow start and going behind it was virtually exhibition stuff. When was the last time a Leigh side ran in so many long range tries? And not against poor opposition - the Dogs will still be there or thereabouts come crunch time.
One minor gripe, both tries conceded (2nd one particularly) very soft.
Another minor gripe, didn't agree with MOM - Riddy played well enough but there were others more worthy (e.g. I thought Higgy was sensational on the wing).
The future's bright, the future's Leyth!!!!!

| Thought we where excellent today. We where very expansive at times and it came off. A couple of times it could have cost us if it went wrong but it didn't. Nice to see a side prepared to play positively in any area of the pitch. Batley are a side who are always strong, never spectacular. To score 50 against them was unbelievable. We left some rally good players out of the 17 today too so the competition for places is there also. Absolutely magnificent

| Biggest positive this year is the quality of the guys who didn't make the 17.
You could pick up an injury or two in any position and still have class players step into the fold.
Not only that we will have competition for places and should be able to rest one or two players each week without detriment to the team.
I'm not naive enough to get too excited but I do believe that the future is bright.

| Some top drawer tries this afternoon. Don't think we ever got past about 80% of our best as well...I fear for the opposition when the combinations click a bit better and we hit a team full pelt!
My word what a game Ryan Duffy had, certainly showed he's in the team on merit.

| As others have said some great tries scored today, and a real good team effort, but without seeming to hit top gear, there's lots more to come from this team. think the Armstrong Brown Partnership will become a delight to watch as the season progresses.
A team scoring 50 odd points it hard not to pick your main playmaker as MOM and most put in good stints, Kez is always worth a mention, Duffy looks fitter, Spencer just loves the game, but my MOM was Sarsfield worked very hard all afternoon.
Glad to see the attendance above 2k and it seemed noticeable that more kids were present, all in all early days but heading in the right direction......Well done to all concerned.

| Matt, Ryan was right up there for MOM IMO. Talking about PR, you should have seen the look on his face at half time going down the tunnel. It looked like someone was going to get it in the changing room. There was loads of positives from today. The tries we sored would have graced any international or grand final. But. That wasn't a very good Batley side.
I know it's very early but some of our passing from the play the ball was tripe and slow. Batley were there for the taking out wide. In the friendlies we showed that we can be fast at this and when we do it in this league god help the opposition. Those lads out there have the potential to put 100 points past some teams. Next week I would love us to be hungry in defence when we have Barrow in their own 20. Prediction for next week, Barrow 10 - Leigh 44. I can only see Sheff, Fax and Fev getting anywhere near those boys. Very happy Leyther tonight.

Don't write off Dewsbury this year. Got a decent side this year with Wayne Godwin at hooker, Ste Nash, Aizue and big Tommy Gallagher in the forwards and an old teammate of mine Greg Scott who is a fantastic winger/centre. Big season ahead for the Rams I reckon.

Do you know that in the friendlies I sat near an old fella that I see at games and we both looked at each other when young Josh Lewis came on and said that that was how to pass from the play the ball. Crisp and straight to the player. Paul is going to have a right headache in a bit because they will all want to be playing infront of that crowd.

| What a fantastic result and another brilliant day out at the LSV.
I'll buck the trend a little as for the first 10-15 mins of the first and second half I felt we was very sluggish and certainly at the start of the first half we looked hesitant.
Of course in those first 15mins in each period our forwards did a lot of work on Batleys forwards and quite possibly it was those periods that maybe had a massive bearing on the big scoreline as once our backs get some ball and clicked we played some fantastic open RL.
For me it was hard to pick stand out players as we had quite a few over the park but Higson, Brown and Brierley deserve a special mention for a pretty complete 80minutes, The MOM could easily have come from them (Riddy got the official MOM) however our forwards as a collective really showed that they could be a big force this season.
Some of the try's showed what we can be capable of and Brierley showed us yet again he knows how to be there at the right time to get his name on the scoreboard (think it was 18 points he got today).
There is a big feel good factor at Leigh at the moment from the Junior Centurions pack my lad received to the positive on field performance and the togetherness of the players who seem to have gelled as a unit quickly.
Its very early days and no doubt Rowley won't be getting carried away but as a fan I just felt today like a corner was being turned on & off the field - happy days.

| It was a great day from arriving to a packed out legends bar, to leaving seeing everyone smiling.
I must say that Sharon Dillion deserves a mention fro the hard work she is doing with the junior Centurions, it was great to see more kids knocking about, the hard work will pay off eventually .
As said on another thread they need a family section in one of the stands.
Can someone not give Clive the mic on pitch side again too

| I don't know about the rest of you but I could hardly hear the match announcer at all and I totally missed the 'running out' music. Admittedly the crowd was very loud but I've always been able to hear it before and I particularly wanted to hear it because it's new music.
On the plus side the team were awesome; a bit slow to get going but once they kicked into gear - wow!!
Also I received my daughters Junior Centurion pack from Sharon - so well done to everyone who had a hand in putting it all together, my daughter loves it. (unfortunately she can't come to games because I'm over in the East Stand and obviously she's not allowed over there. It's a shame really because she's always mithering to come).

| The north stand was bouncing at times, when we broke out into a song and everyone was singing it gave me goosebumps, and you could see the players reacting to this, Wilkes and Barlow acknowledged our singing, like said before it can only act as a positive as it really gets the lads going! not sure if anyone had noticed but every game the north stand seems to get more and more packed, the side of the north stand that barely has anyone in it is gradually attracting more people. When we play the likes of Fev and Fax I think we can expect close to the 2500 mark. Absolutley buzzing after yesterdays performance, big things ahead!!

| I am absolutely delighted with the result that try when McNally broke down the Wing to pass to Higson who went under the posts was magnificent also who would like to try and stop spencer in full flight I know I wouldn't , but I'm with Mish about the tannoy system, either the feed to the north stand is broken or the announcer is under the influence

| Well played Leigh, you look a quality side, as for us, well nobody beat us last year like that and to suffer such a defeat in the first game was gutting, onwards and upwards though and hope we give you a sterner test at the Mount.

| Was an excellent performance by everyone. Sure Batley will be up there by the end but we've got the players and the game plan to beat them like we did. Thought Higson had a fantastic game and should be 1st choice winger. Littler was man of the match for me, set up a few good trys and breaks, worked well in defence and gave 100%. One slight, smallest thing is I'd like Brown to believe in himself a bit more, a few times he got the ball and instead of just putting his foot down along the wing (Higson broke through some incredibly small gaps right out on the touchline) he stopped and came back inside, needs a bit more faith in himself.

| Was tricky 2 pick a mom from Sunday but that was because all of our players went well.
I think for eg Greg McNally has been reading my posts about who should be our fullback because that break he made for the 100 yard try was outstanding.
Ryan Duffy too must read my posts because I have been posting for a long time about how I think he will get better season by season.
I remember our teams under Paul Tersiz of course and they played some good stuff but they could not compete with our current team.
Remember Batley are a very good Championship side and did not play badly but the Leythers are capable of getting even better as everyone will see as this season goes on.
For those who went you must have been very impressed after last Sundays game.

We're doing our best to sort out the issues - the solution is proving elusive so far, and the biggest issue is that we only seem to have problems when the stadium has a reasonable number of spectators in.

Thanks for that Michael, it sounds great.
I know what you're saying about the sound levels because when the stadium is empty and we're doing the sound checks for the radio/LCTV broadcast, the music is really loud but when the running out/try music is being played later on, it always seems much quieter.

It's pretty loud in the West Stand! Yet when the announcer starts to talk, the sound sometimes 'breaks up'. To me, it often seems to be a fault in new stadia. Technology, eh?!
