As nobody knows who I am, I will spoil the party in the interests of those wanting an extra pint. I have it from a good sauce that this is the BIG announcement:

The announcement is that the club has been bought by American John Walton, CEO of Wallmart, after a recent visit to one of Asda's top performing stores in the UK, Atherleigh Way Leigh.
John asked about the derelict land opposite and was informed of the history and struggles of LRLFC. He was taken to the new facility at LSV and has decided to reward the loyal folk of Leigh by investing in the local sporting club to the tune of £2m pa over 10 years.
This investment is obviously huge in RL terms but is small fry for a man with family wealth of $50Billion whose great, great grandad originated from Westleigh prior to emigrating to the USA in 1858 by working his passage.
The RFL will be present and our key to SL 2013 will be formally handed over before the game. ASDA will sponsor SL next year as well as Leigh and will be organising our GF and CC celebrations.

I reckon GLOW's Euro-millions has come up, and we are announcing the purchase of 'New Hilton Park' from the council - and that Marstons have signed up to a multi-million sponsorship deal, and have agreed to re-name the, as yet, un-built boozer next door to "The Pon 'o' Lobby"!!

Sometimes I don't know why the club bother when there are people willing everything they do to be a failure before they've even announced what it is. Are you supposed to be a fan of the club?

If it's an initiative that guarentees this club is still in business for the next 5 years and we keep our best players and coaches then thats major.

A let down? Why? Explain why it is a 'let down'.

The last two occasions that I can recall when the club advised "a major announcement" was imminent turned out to be, 1 a new website and 2 Hill signing an extended contract,

As encouraging as both those were, the club unfortunately raised everyone's expectation levels with the word "major".

So I would say lets all not expect anything truly spectacular, Certainly nothing to equal the magnitude of the post by this Maurice bloke.

Didn't the club tout a "major signing" story back around our promotion year? Everybody was convinced it was gonna be Joey Johns, or Lockyear - or at the very least Shaun Long.........it turned out we'd re-signed Radney!!
