I know i might get some stick off widnes fans for this but... I have still never seen Thackeray put in anything like a good performance against leigh. I've seen him have a good match on TV once or twice against other sides but he is consistently awful against us. Ridyard plays him off the pitch every single time and Ellis did too tonight. His defence is terrible, his dummy-and-step is predictable and his kicking game is average at best. They are on about taking him to SL with them! Is it just Leigh who he can't play against? Because I don't get the hype at all and I haven't for years.

Ive always called him a 'one trick pony' and your right he has never had a good game against us, but thats because we know how to handle him and their coaches can't.

i read the thread earlier about people thinking maybe this could be widnes turn to beat us, and i could lie and say i was 1oo% comfident, but i had a niggling doubt that just maybe we would blow it on the night, well what a fool i am, and i should know better, especially with this group of outstanding players we have in this current squad. Lads you were immense this evening, 2nd half especially, i should never of had such doubts, in 33 years of watching my beloved team i can't remember a more committed, and skillful bunch of players, especially when you consider we have spent less than last year, i take my hat off to you, a very proud leyther.

ps to many great performances to mention everyb player, but just one bit of praise for david mills, awesome.

Thackeray is a decent support player but that's not any good when getting thumped at half back, never mind the forwards.

Mills was pure class tonight, what an effort from the big man. Has anybody asked him if he will let Danny Sculthorpe out of his pocket anytime soon?

kavanagh looked like a good player in the first half, hit some very good gaps. capitalised on our mistakes. gave a few sloppy penalties second half

very enjoyable, when we slowed the play of the ball down we killed widnes.

I feel sorry for Sculthorpe he was a very tallented player but he didn't look very good yesterday. Looks good up top but his legs look flabby and thats what carries you about. Also he didn't look very interested.

They`ve replaced Doran with another penalty machine in Allen, Pickersgills no better.The young lad Kavanagh looks like he`s a good prospect.

To defend Sculthorpe I have to say this about him........ the guy hasnt played for 14 months and needs 7-8 games to get match fit and get back up to speed of the game, when he does this he will be a great asset to the smelly mutant losers.

Mate Scully should be playing in the reserves firstly, and has only had a few games in the first team.I think if Betts plays the players who are fit and in their correct postions, then results would be better.Against York we had Coyle and Lunt at hooker, which i prefer as Netherton is crap.Gaskell dropped for Alex Brown, who has lots of speed and skill.Gerrard is not a standoff and Thacks never a fullback.Grady was playing well and then we put leuluai to replace him.I,Anson has had Coyle,Gerrard and thacks at halfback with him.I think we are a better team than Leigh have seen and it is all down to bad coaching.We need a leader aswell on the park.Long way to go, and hopefully Betts also changes ropati for Ford.Goodluck and hope you win the Rail cup.

I think you will do ok this season, you showed in spells in both games what you are capable of, and no doubt you will come good, good luck for the rest of the season.

Thankyou Ian i have seen some glimpses of good rugby, and is frustrating we are not doing it for 80 mins.You have a top coach and team for the Championship, and hopefully see you in Superleague in 3yrs time.Hopefully it will be a closer game at Stobarts and wont miss been leighs bitches.
