Feeling of deja vu here. Same thing happened at Crusaders this time last year when everybody was up in arms about the change to Friday nights. For all the reasons given above it was never going to increase crowd numbers - but those who still wanted to support the team would somehow find a way to make it to some, if not all, the Friday matches.

At the time I hated the idea of travelling over an hour across North Wales after work for a Friday night match. As the season went on it became a great end to the week to have rugby on a Friday night and for that reason I will be leaving work early on a Friday to travel twice the distance I did last year to continue to support Leigh while still getting Sunday rugby at the Racecourse. So I'm happy

7 Championship and 1 Friendly for certain so far.
Not sure about the cup as depends if we are home or away (and I suspect the other club needs to agree to it being Friday) , equally If we progress in the NRC I'm not sure what day we will play (if we are at home on not on TV).

Works out as all our group NRC games (2 out of 2) are on Sundays.

In the league 2 out of 9 Championship games are on Sundays (bit unlucky as well as they are 2 Sundays on the bounce).

Looks like the new target audience will be the 100's if not, 1000's of 12-40 year olds that choose to stay in and watch a Super league match with a few beers, irrelevant of the two teams playing.

I think its a whole lot easier to get people into town to watch the match on a Friday night after work with their mates, than it is to drag them out of bed on a Sunday morning to meet up with their mates after a heavy night on the ale the night before.

It all depends on who you think you can attract , the ' Lads ' wont come no matter when we play IMO

Fridays have every chance of attracting new floating fans, how many of them is another debate. My only grumble is that you can't get a season ticket when games are spread over so many days

I think that once you get a group of lads going, the others will follow, they wont wont to be sat in the pub on their own when their mates are out at the match. It just takes that bit pf persuasion to get the first few to come.
I've spoke to a few of my mates today about the day change, told them Super League "Lads Night" at JackoLeythers house is cancelled and they will 100% give it a try next year.

Lets hope they dont expect SL type crowds and atmosphere at the LSV , or Supermarket beer prices either ?

'Preferred' day is still Sunday. The Club is using this situation to experiment with 3/4 games, based on the wishes of the corporate sponsors, coaching team and players.

Friday nights in Leigh have been dead for a very long time, a link up with a bar in the town centre, ie Bar Bliss or Cafe Stella, even if they just had a guy giving out leaflets for a free shot at their bar after the match, a few adverts on Facebook and Twitter. They have to just try something, I really do think crowds will be bigger this year.

Just looked at a shift rota i have got from work, i will only be able to make 3 possibly 4 home games next season, gutted.

The decision was taken after consultation with our corporate sponsors, the players and the coaching staff.

I'm sure the atmosphere is better in the north stand than it is sat at home or in the pub watching a sl game.

I just dont think you can turn ' Armchair sports fans ' into ' Live sports fans ' , plus the numbers you are suggesting are how many ? , as you say the town centre has been in decline for years now , those that do go out travel further afield now , I somehow cant see them hanging around to watch a match at the LSV beforehand

As the facts were explained to me, the decision was not merely 'corporate'. The club doesn't want to lose any fans, but we have a faily unusual situation for, hopefully, one season.

If a fan can't make it, that is very unfortunate - if a fan won't make it, that's their choice.

Maybe for me and you jc , but the armchair fan ? , as Iv'e suggested earlier , to me they are a lost cause

You are making watching Leigh play rugby sound like a chore. Those that dont go out, don't travel further afield they just go out on a Saturday instead, and if we cant turn armchair fans into live sports fans then whats the point in you marketing anything? Surely our numbers cant increase?

The figures quoted to me are "over 50%" of the package prices, go to the club.

Can you not swap shifts with people ian so you dont lose money?.
