More recently lesser players who are not in some kind of rehab have come who have turned into England internationals.
The pool of players is so much bigger especially with the addition of various islanders.Club do right to take time to find the right ones with the stated intention of making an impact on and off the pitch.

Hi Mr Mills, I would think that Mr Carvell should have at the interview stage sorted out a recruitment budget before accepting the position otherwise it could be a poisoned chalice of a job. You say it is right to take time to find the right ones which I agree with but as we stand at the moment it is just 9 weeks till the start of the season how much time have we got, those clubs who we would be expecting to be fighting for the 11th or better spot have better squads than us, I wouldn't mind so much if there was some speculation and target player's were being named, as I said previously when you look at the recruitment of other clubs, never mind SL a couple of Championship clubs especially Toulouse have recruited far better than we have, as it is I think the only way we will avoid relegation is if the season is again a victim of the pandemic and no P&R happens, Mr Beaumont has stated all along that his goal is to be in SL at the start of the '22 season, for that to happen the playing roster needs a good dose of looking at.

Dont know who Mr Mills is.Is he a back or a forward.

I think it would be fair, and a good idea to evaluate the squad when it's complete.

The lack of top class additions to the squad and the associated publicity is very difficult to understand. Some information from the club to fans would be helpful in building anticipation and our hopes for a successful season. The additional signings need time in pre-season to fully integrate into the squad.

Anyone can put together a wish list, but what good will that do just speculating?
There are those amongst us who have kept the faith and forked out for season tickets, Derek was so chuffed last year that 90% of the season ticket holders left the money in the club and was a reason if not the main one which persuaded him to carry on i.e. the loyalty of the fans.
All I am asking is to be informed what is going on with respect to recruitment, for the continued 'loyalty' I have given.

That’s a very good question? Given Leigh built a squad to compete in the Championship. I don’t agree in the club being paid 750k short of all the other eleven clubs for a start off. Again Leigh are forced into the level playing field scenario which we saw in the Super 8’s.

When Mr Beaumont was asked the question recently! Would you pay 400k for a marquee player? His response was yes. Now we all know last time around the reply was no. Quite clearly he is more committed now than ever.

That commitment of words will have to be backed up with fact. So yes I do see some serious acquisitions being made in certain positions. How they play as a unit has yet to be seen.

Not all about what’s written on paper and this is where the backroom staff come into question, not only the players.

You or i might not agree with the 750k shy of the full amount, but Degsey obvously has agreed,and that's what matters. Now,before we get talking about what happens on the pitch,let's discuss the title of the thread which is - SQUAD FOR 2021? There are additions yet to come in,so once the squad is completed, we can then evaluate and predict our thoughts. Once the season starts, we can then discuss the performance of the team, players, and positions etc.

I am sensing a fair amount of negativity about the strength of the Squad and our chances in SL. The following team is in my opinion the strongest team we have put out for a very long time. Of course we are light on numbers to the tune of 4-6 players.

Some of the middles are interchangeable, but we have biff in the pack, speed in the backs and guile in the halves.
If we can pull off the feat of bringing in 4 better players than these 17, I will feel very confident of finishing above 12th spot.
The lack of rumours is disconcerting but we will see what Del manages to pull out of the hat. I think the delay in the start is beneficial to the recruitment and pre-season preparation.

Well at the minute I’m not sure we would be favourites for the Championship if we were still in it with the way Fev & Toulouse are recruiting.

Unless there’s signings that aren’t announced yet I’d be disappointed to head into the most important SL season in years with the current squad.

I hope we aren’t banking on Barba getting a Visa on some technicality.

Totally agree Binosh, The club should be going all out to encourage fans with news flow of quality signings ahead of such an important season.

If the club are expecting 6000 plus crowds and a fortress LSV they need to give the fans something positive to hang on to.

I'm sure they are going all out to sign the best they can, but until any contract is finalized, we'll just have to be patient until then i'm afraid.

Encourage fans all they want but who apart from the totally loyal would commit to a ST - no sign yet of any crowds being allowed in let alone 6,000. Especially with the caveat that there will be no refunds should there be no crowds.

We could also be in lockdown until July 17th.
