| In fairness it was always down as an U19s Wigan side so I'm not so sure why anyone expected anything different.

| Wigan have tried to select a side (in their view) that can make it an evenly-matched game. They have included eight of their current SL squad of 25. They don't see any benefit in the game being one-sided - in either direction. We would have all loved to have seen Tomkins (the proper one) et al at LSV, and that would have boosted the gate, which was one of our main objectives - the other one being a good workout for our players.
On Sunday we'll find out whether we have been under-estimated or not.
One thing's for sure - there'll be more on than there were for the Salford game!

| I think for most people (both Leythers and Wiganer's) it's probably the price of admission for an U19's friendly that's the issue and to be fair to Wigan they have never billed it as anything other than an U19's friendly.

| Basically all Leythers (should/probably) dislike W**an, so let's stuff the side that they can be bothered to send....again !

You might like to check out Wigan's website Harold. The fixture is 'billed' on their fixture list as a FIRST TEAM game.
In their discussions with Leigh, Under 19's were never mentioned. Now the RFL, in their wisdom, announced it as an Under 19 fixture!

| I think the Wigan team for Sunday is quite a good one and certainly not an under 19's side.
Like Alan has posted on the Wigan Board' it would have been an embarrassment had the Pies picked their best 17 and lost and that's obviously why the Wigan coach has picked the team he has. His job would have been on the line and he knew it.

| Can't say I'm too bothered about their team. I go to watch Leyth, not the opposition. Doubt we'd have learned much from getting stuffed by their first team either but at least the South Stand is shut so that will keep costs down.

That then must of been where I picked the 'U19 billing' up from Alan - Apologies.

| Alan posted on his "In this Weeks Centurion" thread that we have 3 new signings with over 550 such appearances.
Stu Littler too played a few games there.

| Hopefully Paul will use the fact Wigan think a U19's team is our level as a bit more motivation
In terms of the fixture I think its one that maybe Leigh should move away from as its time for a change.
If we want to get a few more people down to the LSV to see what we are about then maybe playing a SL team that attempts to put a team out that will attract the neutral and its own fans is one we should aim for.
I'm not blaming the Humbles as they have always looked after their needs above anything else and view this as a nothing game, but for Leigh as a club in the Championship we need to raise our profile so any opportunity to play a bigger club is one we need to plan carefully to maximise interest and for this reason I'd say who plays for the opposition is of more interest than a normal competitive game as it could be used as a marketing tool for our club.

No idea Keith. The Wigan appearances that I quoted weren't SL appearances, they were first team games in 2012 only. (many could have been in cup ties against lesser opposition) I posted that, merely in answer to the suggestion that it is a Wigan U-19 side, to demonstrate that they are not entirely without experience.

| What sort of teams are put out by other SL clubs playing Championship sides? I hope that Mr Wayne and his staff are deciding not putting a decent team out because they are affraid of the game becoming a biff fest and a target practice for their stars, because this club and it's playing staff have left that sort of rubbish behind them a long time ago. Good tuff attacking, rugby league is what Leigh are about now.
I think.

I'm not convinced by him. However I do think Hampshire, Burgess and Lever (he is still only 17) along with Pugsley and LLoyd have the talent to go a long way in the game. It's shame George Williams is missing, he too is an outstanding young talent.
I do think it'll be hard for Wigan with such a young side but they'll give a good account of themselves.

| Hope they do as lets be honest they have to be good players if Wigan keep them under contract when they were instrumental in the scrapping of Non Relegation club reserve sides.
Re us scrapping our friendlies against Wigan I hope not personally because I am sure they will bring a reasonable following on Sunday.

| To be honest I'm not bothered if Wigan played 13 employees from Uncle Joes mint ball works or 13 slaves from the gravy mines a Wigginer is a Wigginer
and to watch Leigh v Wiggin should be enough for any true Leyther to watch no matter who plays in the cherry n white of Wiggin
BRING IT ON

| I'm really looking forward to seeing our new signings in action.
The Pies didn't have that much choice re the team selection - many of their players were in the international series and are very early in their preseason.
Also if they had chosen their first 17 I don't think we would learn much from a tonking... As much as we think otherwise it would be difficult for our guys to keep a FT side packed with internationals under 60.

My Wigan friends have also given good reports about Burgess , is he a Winger ?I have seen George Williams in the past and also agree he should be a future star of the Game , hopefully PR can identify the players he would like to come to Leigh on loan next season , so the friendly will be of use .

Yes, Burgess is a winger and along with Hampshire (stand off) possess great pace. Hampshire is also a very good goalkicker, both have just turned 18.
