I don't think that's the case though when it's only £14 now when you buy in advance for the North, and in actual fact it's cheaper now for kids than it has been for years. Low crowds isn't exactly a new problem, and they weren't exactly banging down the door when prices were frozen for 2/3 years.

So what would you do if at the start of the season you set prices at £10/£12 on the asumption that 2500 people were going to turn up to every game but only 1800 turned up

I think theres some really good ideas on here, really good ones, but convincing the club to try some will be difficult if money is involved as we have none. Next season we will need to get better offers for all, just have LISA and let LISA run the offer of a season ticket along with one for a season ticket and shirt, we have the bank accounts /paypal and everything already in place. Lets have a league match ticket book tailored to all fans needs, ie 5 match one @ x amount 7 match one @ y amount and a 10 match one at z amount along with the normal full one, lets make it hard for us fans not buy one.

Positive side we may get fans of other clubs for the odd game or two.

Negative side we may start to here 'As a Leigh fan I now pay more to watch my team play than a Wigan fan does'.

If we are going to try getting people in for a tenner I suppose I’d prefer it if the club could try to attract new Leigh fans along a similar theme (if using cheap tickets as a attraction) rather than perhaps SL ones as long term we will always be the '2nd club'.
I'd rather see a initiative for our fans with ST being able to purchase a cheaper ticket for certain games and brings friends or family who might not pay £16.00 or £18.00 to watch Leigh or maybe its worth a look at redeemable vouchers in the programme offering a fan entrance for 2 for £21.00 for the next home game (with name and address details required) or a voucher for a family ticket for 2 adults, 2 children for £25.00, might boost programme sales and attract potential new fans.

Having said that I think attracting the away fans of other championship clubs is probably the best bit of this idea as that would maybe swing it for me if visiting a away ground (value for money is now of vital priority to many fans).
I would say long term to get in away fans (and create that all important match day atmosphere that we do need) then why not revisit the idea of putting on a free coach for away fans as others have suggested (seemed to work v Widnes ?) , make sure its over 3/4 sold and gets here 1 hour before kick off - with our bars open and welcoming , maybe long term a coach load of Batley fans paying the normal entrance fee (but having got here for nothing) will be better than attracting a few Wigan fans who will offer nothing to the atmosphere we desperately need to generate if Leigh is to be seen as a good day / night out.

Don’t get me wrong though any idea is worth trying out as if we get 1 additional person in paying a tenner then its worked, lets be honest our club has been totally inept at attracting additional support of any form for years and has paid heavily for that lack of thought / ambition so any idea is a positive and deserves backing, the trick is to not sit on our hands but constantly tweak these good ideas add others and maximise them to get the best for Leigh Centurions.

Are you saying though there are hidden expenses that were not included in the less than 300k operating budget mr freer stated at the forum? That would be very concerning indeed? Im sure this would not be the case!

The board have done exactly the right thing in reducing costs we were literly thowing money away before we now have a managable budget that can be achieved even with lower costs for speccies if i am not missing anything

Agreed any idea is a positive but it has to be backed up with a sound business plan for it to be worthwile. I think free beer is a good idea to get people in the ground would the catering company at the LSV agree?

I suppose with this no-one will really know if its cost the club money or not.
Not many away fans travel in this league so I'm sure we'll lose on that , but maybe it may sway some into coming.

True this offer has its faults - see my thoughts above, but to get the club moving we have to try things out, we may lose money, we may make money - doing nothing whilst the competition for mine and your 'leisure money' is huge isn't a option.

If nothing else its generated some healthy debate and also demonstrated our club can act quickly when it see's a idea it likes.

Any initiatives need to be controlled, virtually all will have an element of risk to them, the secret is managing/controlling that risk to its lowest possible level and then making the best possible return of whatever initiative you use
