Agreed, KO time has quite a lot of sense if you look at it from the players perspective.

By the way, does anyone know where I can find out our average attendances pre 2005? Was just wondering the last time we averaged over 2500 in the second tier.

For me looking from the outside at the club and having always looked forward to games played at Hilton Park and hating the LSV experience, the club needs to take control (say a long lease) of may be the east stand etc and give the supporters back that local club house feeling (that Hilton Park had) this might also get some alternative revenue streams going. Anyway looking forward to the Fev match, should be game of the season so far.

The only revenue stream the club has is fans through the turnstiles , we need a lot more fans , simple as , get to work

I don't know the figures Starbug but does sponsorship, TV and merchendise not bring in money? Or is it such a small amout that it's insignificant?

ONE person you are quite correct is not a team and maybe that is the issue! the club need to do something to get more fans in simple as, if the ONE person cannot do it then the CLUB need to do something about it! Yes we all know money is tight but without spending some they cannot just expect people to turn up

You say posters do not come up with alternatives but from what I see they have in the past and then get shot down by someone because it is not viable for whatever reason! In any case the club should be the ones coming up with marketing ideas! all we can do is spread the word about how good we are and to come and watch!

They could always look at buying e-mail addresses from a marketing company and send out advertising, shouldn't cost to much!

Yep. If we had a few more like you and less who just cried about things we'd be in a much better place-we're lucky to have one of you!

This is a reference to the fans of the club , if we want a club , then we must sell the club to more people than currently come , the other option is we all pay double what we pay at the moment , maybe that will give some people an idea of the size of the problem

Don't build up your hopes too much - Leigh have a hard game on the Friday, while Featherstone have a rest. Two games in four days, against a team that hasn't played in eleven days may be too big an ask.

People's attitudes on here baffle me at times, firstly Linda does a great job well done



The points being made are the CLUB need to also (also meaning I agree that we as fans need to do things to help) do more, when was the last time you saw or heard about anything the CLUB do from a marketing point of view, yes the e-mails are sent to people who are regulars maybe some who are not (no way of knowing). Other than that what do the club actually do to market themselves around the town, this is a serious qustion by the way!

Must admit don't see anything in Atherton regarding Leigh Centurions and not everyone gets the free papers ,I have been on at my neighbour to come on Friday ,he is a lapsed fan from when we were playing rubbish but i've told him what a fantastic team we have now !

i agree, we havent done much since we had the players in the town centre on the rocking bull/rugby ball thing.
its not the clubs fault, its the lack of intrest within the community. Our crowds are actually good atm. After seeing Featherstones crowd against Barrow were looking ok. Think they got just over 1700

i drag my girlfriend along, she hasnt missed a home game and she also went Fax the other day!! Now im trying to convert her old man and bring her grandad.

The biggest problem is changing the attitude of the stay away fans.
The number of times I hear...... "I'm not going while .... ...... is involved in the club" or "the board just rob the club blind"
Rightly or wrongly these perceptions have built up over many years and the unfortunate truth is sticking a poster in a shop window or letting kids in for free isn't going to bring these fans back.

The trailer one of the directors bought should have been being used in my opinion in the town centre players onbroad= best advert we can provide, we also need to bug the council/staduim co to let us have use of the EAST stand foc and change to a family stand, shove a bar underneath, and use it, instaed of being stuck there doing nothing.

Our crowds are steadly growing, we cannot expect another 500 - 1000 over night. We are better supported than most of the other teams in the championship, and the away support at Fax and Barrow has been tremendous. No plaudits on the clubs web site about that though. Lets build on the positive's of this season, we are moving forward.

From a marketing point of view. I see very little advertising in the surrounding towns, Atherton, Golborne, Tyldlesley and Westhoughton are only a mile or two away and should be area's the club are targetting for new support.



Also the French are coming Bradshawgate and the Spinning gate should be full of banners and flags promoting the challenge cup fixture, and lets not forget the local supermarkets where thousands of folk visit every week. Advertising in the local papers needs to be increased, yes there is a match report, but you have to read it if you want to find out the next fixture. There is not stand out advert for the next game. If it is a new supporter, we need to catch there eye.



The club needs to get out and touch the public more if we are going to generate more interest in the local community. Like I started with, we are moving forward, lets focus on the positives.

Or maybe we could do it instead, who free next weekend to go into the town centre giving out posters advertising the game, as the club will give you the link to download them. Im sure theres stuff a few of us could do? Anyone fancy it?

I realise that it costs to market our product and I realise it could be wasted expenditure, if the apathy/antipathy towards the club is rife. I also realise that our benefactor is funding the club up to the hilt already, and may well not want to spend even more, on the gamble of getting folk interested.

However, I hark back to what the Widnes Commercial Manager said, when the Vikings last returned to Super League. He said that, in their first season, they made the huge mistake, of just expecting people to flock to the ground, now they were back in SL. Belatedly, they were forced to the conclusion that they had to ram information about the team/fixtures, down the throats of their 'supporters', to promote interest.

I guess you have to speculate, to accumulate.

Lots of big talk again as usual but when Linda asks for someone to help her there are zero offers typical big talkers all spout no do, unfortunatly I will not be in town that weekend Linda or i would give you a hand and the flights from Morrocco are expensive and the girl friend wouldn't be too chuffed either.
