You could only apply for a franchise if you agreed not to take legal action if you thought the final decision was unjust, and guess what....it was....its almost as though they had already made the decision and knew exactly how the teams and most of the media would react.

I think the Toulouse non-relegation issue also was part of the franchise thingy. Apply for a franchise but agree that the frogs are exempt from relegation

I am not personally arguing about the legality. You say it is not a restraint of trade. Of course it is - if you wanted to buy my house but I was not permitted to sell it to you below 2 million quid, it would be restricting the trade - yes you might find someone silly enough to pay that amount, but chances are it would be very restrictive. In the same way, capping what we are allowed to pay players will limit our ability to attract the best, and the players will be restricted from earning what they are worth....although some players will still join us..

You may have Arthur sat on a few bob burning a hole in his ar$e pocket and you may also have a womderful ground which is a credit to the club and town.

However, there IS a salary cap of 150K in CC1. These are the RFL rules whether you like them or not.

You knew there was a 150k salary cap at the time Paul, Bibey, Duffy, Hartley etc contracts were being negotiated.
You got relegated again knowing the Toulose rules.
You entered into contracts with players knowing the risks
You make your bed, you lie in it.

Why should the rules be bent around you?

I think a lot of your fans are adopting the same arrogant attitude as your board, thinking you are a SL club when you're clearly not.

Take your relegation gracefully, take the year in CC1 as a year to rebuild, bring in some kids, build up the fan base on the back of inevitable promotion and go for SL in 2011.

I hope you remember that when Mr Rowley has blown Arthur's dosh and you're back in the doldrums like you were a few seasons ago.

Your club (and for that matter any other club) has absolutely no right to a dispension creating an unlevel playing field in CC1.

It baffles me even more to think that the board and now the fans think they deserve the right to a dispensation when the root cause of your problems was some appalling mismanagement.

You simply can't spend twice as much as them but maybe 50k to 100k more may be allowed!

Has anyone of you actually read the Salary cap rules?

There is provision to increase a clubs spending beyond the (so called) salary cap maximum in the Championship and in Championship 1 (other sports have their own rules which are ALL different so people should stop trying to put those rules as a discusdion point as they are not relevant), Nigel Wood has said so, the RFL says so in its own rules, all a club has to do is prove they can afford it on Ch 1 income, fair or not does not come into it as long as a club operates within the rules and asks permission and keeps the RFL informed, everything is OK.

And as for people coming on here accusing the club of doing this and doing that, as they have made no statement as of yet pray tell how anyone outside of the boardroom knows what is going on?.

To those who think we shouldn't be granted 'special dispensation', what do you recommend we do next?

Perhaps we should tear up the contracts of those already signed - including the youngsters like Hill and Taylor, who are on four year contracts? The players then sue Leigh for their contract monies, and bingo, we have exceeded the salary cap anyway, but have no players!

In my book, that would then be giving an unfair advantage to the rest of C1!!

Don't go round trying to sign every player coming off contract on big money perhaps?
