I think it is a dangerous position for the players to want a coach or even manipulate the decision of which coach to have. There should be a business type barrier between coach and players to keep a proffesional air at a club. I'm not saying they should dislike each other but they shouldn't be best pals either. There were rumours before about Pauls influence in the changing room with other coaches when our form dipped. If Paul gets the job it should be because he is the best available for the money that we can afford and no other reason.

I heard that just before Blakemore and Adamson returned home Paul Rowley asked them to leave the training area commenting "I'm sorry guys I am trying to prepare the lads for the pre-season games, can you give me some space"

I was told Paul didn't want it, and he's doing a great job as assistant, he got them all very fit, last season and it was very much a big bearing on how we started the season last year.

Well if true, they 'll never forget that, should they get the gig!!!

Hope they don't froget it and appreciate that Rowley was wanting to get the best out of the players not having them distracted, they should respect that

If that it the truth which I don't believe for one minute then I would have the assistant removed as a stipulation of me taking over. If I was head coach then it would be me who gets the chop for the results and no assistant would be telling me that.

I feel sorry for paul because he is trying to get the lads fit and up and running for the friendly matches then you have two coaches trying to impress so thay can get the job.They both took trainig sessions but they were both doing things different ways so how can the players be expected to know what they are doing if they are being shown different things why not all be doing things from one hymm sheet so everyone knows what they are doing.

ATEOTD reading between the lines we are looking at someone to manage the whole playing side, from player development, acadamy, 1st team etc.
I can imagine that Rowley and Jukes will do the majority of 1st team coaching, with direction from the new guy.

I still remember the disruption PR brought to the dressing room when he wasn't getting his way in his playing days.

For that reason alone, no thanks.

The Watcher can not believe posters on this board wanting Rowley as coach, by God have you forgotten he got us relegated & that the rugby played under his leadership was the worst in a lifetime. If Rowley had not been given a 5 year contract (yes thats right 5 YEARS) he would not have been anywhere near the playing staff of this rugby team for the last 2/3 years. ABR for The Watcher.

I think that view is very harsh.

Neil Kelly was the coach in our relegation season and Paul had to step in when Kelly's health problems became public knowledge.

I wonder what the Watcher thought of our team's tactics the season after after Tony Benson was replaced.

Our next coach will be Antipodean subject to a successful visa/work permit.

The team played some good rugby when Paul was in charge but lacked consistency

Listened to the podcast interview by Dave Parky with Paul Rowley.

Was very impressed with both his knowledge of the training techniques and the character of each of the players.

He was far more articulate about it than most full time coaches I have heard. Seemed to be doing a great job under difficult circumstances.

Any incoming coach should be very grateful.
