I was always suspicious of how they could sign SL quality players on Championship wages and SC. Bracek, Rooney, Catic, Thackeray etc etc wouldn't have come cheap AT ALL. Barrow fans were always quick to say if it is true then how come we haven't been charged with breaking the SC.... well looks like its all catching up with Dessie. If they are looking back as far as 2007 wasn't that when they were still in NL2? Or whatever it was called at the time? Makes their winning NL2 and the Championship look very suspicious if they are found to have been purposely breaking the SC for such a long time!

Feel bad for the fans but it's not as if people haven't been questioning this for a while.

They must have been 'Grassed up' with the Salary cap supposedly being a 'live' watch on all the clubs.

No club's fans deserves the trouble this will bring in it's wake.

If under the counter payments have been made then Revenue and Customs will be after the players involved.

Would it not be a touch ironic that Barrow could get relegated by the RFL after all the various off field shenanigans yet may be indirectly replaced by Crusaders who also have a record of off field shenagans yet are currently telling the RFL what division they wish to play in !

The worst thing is, Des has done all those things to try and make the promised land, of the superdooper league and it could end up being their down fall.
Question is how many more will fall by the wayside in the same quest.
Truth is the super dooper fan dangle league only want certain teams and they aren't Barrow, Halifax, or us.
We have to learn to live with this.
Next time the licenses are up for renewal there will be a set in stone set of rules that will stop any unwanted teams applying I would imagine.

I find it difficult to blame the rfl for the mess barrow find themselves in,i would have no sympathy for us either if it was to happen again.

All Barrow have done is to show the RFL what a ludicrous salary cap £400K is for any club with ambitions. The RFL are going to punish Barrow for being ambitious. The RFL are just keeping ambitious clubs under the thumb and if you dare break these Communist rules then you are punished even further. Stuff the RFL and stuff Super League.

All clubs know the rules though yet still insist on trying to flout them, what's the old saying Cheats never prosper?

The contract system and agents asking phone number money for their players and the clubs for paying them in the first place is the root of the problem.

Whatever the rights and wrongs and the its 'his fault' is pretty irrelevent in the broad puicture of it all.
Lets hope the people of Barrow have a semi pro RL club to follow next year.

Des johnson has walked into rugby league and stuck two fingers up at everyone involved in rl,not just the establishment.He and the club will get what they deserve.

I feel sorry for their fans but then again have they actually protested about the way the clubs been run over the last few years.

Fax offering junior season pass to cover all NR group games home and away plus all league games home and away and have guven the number of games as 22? That suggests to me either the NR had been revamped or our league will only have 10 teams. Has the decision been made already on Barrow or are they going to reject Crusaders application. Come on RFL get some announcements out.

I probably seen Barrow more than any other team other than Fev over then last 2 years - and he's nowt other than a VERY predictable distribution agent nowadays. Creates nothing and has no sign of that ability he used to have for exploiting a gap.
He's a fev lad and I wouldn't want him anywhere near our team now. - too much baggage, too few skills left now at this level.
Harrison still a good unit at this level - be cracking for another season or so.
Thacks/Gleeson - Nah!
