Rumours are he's off to Wigan. For me that would be one of the stupidest decisions Leigh have ever made if we let him go. He's Class and in my opinion if he didn't play against Salford and Wakefield in the CC last year then we wouldn't have won. He just gets on with his job and is a great leader. You hear all these constant threads about Brierley etc.. But players such as beswick dont get the credit they deserve.

Only a couple of people have mentioned his name on the Wigan board, despite McIlorum's horrendous injury. Despite Lewis Foster's rich promise, I think we are better balanced and more inspired by Bob's presence.

We need a return to the Beswick + Higham Hooker game for me, at least for the toughest games like Bradford, Fax, Eagles, London for example, as you know exactly what you're getting when they take the field.

Foster can get plenty of opportunities in the other games.

There's been rumours linking him to w!g@n for a few months now and guess what, he's still here! He said in the Legends' Bar on Sunday that he's about 4 weeks off I think. We desperately need him back, we look a much better team with an experienced hooker leading the way.

Bob Beswick is 31 now and has given his all playing for Leigh and as such he should be given the opportunity of playing at a higher level with Wigan if they want to sign him. I for one hope he gets the chance and gets to play a couple of seasons in Super League.

Same with Ryan. He's 23 and as a halfback he needs to get into SL now. If he has a poor season or a bad injury then his chance may have gone forever. And let's face facts, it is going to be extremely difficult for any Champ team to get promoted with the salary cap weighted too much towards SL teams.

You should never stand in the way of a loyal player playing at a higher level.

On a side note, I wish the newly signed players (Hansen excluded) showed the same passion as Ryan did on Sunday. His heart is 100% Leigh when he pulls on that jersey.

So, if a player wants to leave, we should reward their loyalty? Nobody holds guns to players heads when they sign these contracts, so why should we just let them go as soon as they get a better offer?

You shouldn't stand in player's way. It's a very short career. These 2 players have given their all for Leigh and I hope they fulfil their dream of playing in SL. It would be better if that was with Leigh but that's a very long shot. Did you begrudge Chris Hill moving to SL? He's fulfilled his dreams of playing in SL, winning the CC and playing for England.

Sentiment doesn't come into it. Bob has been brilliant for Leigh and I wish him all the best but this is a crucial season for us. Mickey Higham has been an inspired signing, easily our biggest threat since he arrived, but he is 35 years old. He should not be an 80 minute hooker week in week out and as promising as young Foster is he is, understandably, nowhere near the level that Beswick is at.

We would be considerably weaker without Beswick and back in a position where one injury to a player that is no spring chicken could completely derail our season.

If Wigan are interested then I imagine they would have to put some serious money on the table to tempt us unless we have an adequate replacement lined up.

Let Bob go to Wigan, please. Without him over the course of the season you will be significantly weaker. I'd have him back here tomorrow given the chance.

I imagine with Wigs lack of 'spending' in the summer, they will have plenty cash left to bring in a Super League/NRL player to cover no. 9.....

What injury does Bob have? Someone on here said he had pulled something but the interview with Derek last week stated his achilles.

We should remember the circumstances under which we signed Micky Higham from Warrington.

I'm encouraged that the club can both attract good players and our players can be of interest to SL.
We've come a long way.

If there's an equivalent/satisfactory replacement available which was the case at Wire, then fine. Leigh don't have the luxury of pulling someone back and seeing we are in the final phase of the plan,weakening the side when the onus is on strengthening,isn't on the agenda this season.

A few years ago I'd have agreed with you when SL was a closed shop, we had no money & our cap was 1/10 what it was in SL.Now though the Championship is attracting some SL quality players and becoming a better compertion every year. We're pushing for SL ourselves & that has to be the be all & end all, no room for sentiment nor should any Leigh player be thinking about getting a chance at SL at another club when they've got a chance takeing Leigh to SL.

Whilst I see your point whilst Bob is at Leigh he only has a 'chance' of SL, if he moves to Wigan, and I do think it is a big if, he 'will' be playing in SL. Good luck to him either way as I do rate him very highly and always enjoy watching him play, even when he does well against us.
