As we've said, with the huge ex Leyth contingent at Swinton, this is looking like a very tasty fixture in the making. I know that years ago this situation would have guaranteed a lot of biff. Do we reckon it will have the same effect on Friday or are players mainly more professional these days? What do we reckon? Leigh have already had 3 suspensions this year and we have only played 3 league games(admittedly all incidents taking place in cup games) and have hardly touched anyone apart from Bibey and even that was more of a careless grab. God help us if there was any genuine biff to come.

Pretty sure it was Swinton a good few years ago at Hilton Park, a ref - think his name was Nick Oddy but could be wrong - got in the middle of a bit of Biff trying to seperate the teams, caught a swinging arm and ended up out cold. Don't think he saw the rest of the game out

Anyone else notice how the refs are bottlers these days and relay on the rfl TO MAKE DECISIONS FOR THEM, we dont seem to have many sin bins these days, just on report, which is unfair, as the team the offence is committed against doesnt gain anything,its the same in SL these days.
The TV games IMHO have no excuse for on reports as they could use video ref to help the refs decisions.

Sorry to be harsh on refs, but that lad Oddy should never have reffed at pro matches. One of THE worst I've ever seen at that level. Nice story. Don't remember that one.

It has all the ingredients for it but like you said I think in this league you get a ban for not very much compared to SL so I think cool heads will have been called for before the game by both sides. Can't beat a bit of biff though to get the crowd going.

I agree with you Dick Jones. It seems as if you almost have to murder someone to get sent off, especially when a match is on TV.

Thats exactly right Lynda there should be no "on reports" on TV games. I have to say though if the clubs are using the excuse that some unfair sinbins or red cards were issued then its tough. It should be just like it used to be when the ref ruled the pitch. I agree with the SKY boys when they say that every game should have video analysis or none at all. Even a ref in the stands with binoculars and in contact with the on field ref would help aswell as ingoal refs. Blinkin eck how many is that. Oh and don't forget reserves.

Ref's these days will sin bin for a technical offence but they need to grow a set when it comes down to dangerous tackles.

Referees will only toughen up when Cummings is replaced as their boss.

yeah, I've tuned in, the music's crap. Too much beatles, who, creedence clearwater revival, bob dylan, suzi quatro, pink floyd etc - hardly 'headbanging stuff'. It's more of a GOLD station, but without the disco music.
They hardly play any ROCK from the last 20 years.

I think Steves been desperate for a punch up. He hasn't had one for nearly two seasons.

I think he'll cop a couple of games for it as well. He came running in after higson squared up to littler. It certainly lifted the atmosphere...... For a couple of minutes.

I did not see anything, and neither did the he ref as he only put it on report, if he had seen anything did happen should have taken action there and then. Lets hope Fred stayed with the play and doesn't give the RL a ringside seat.
