Great news!!! Will be going down at weekend to buy two season tickets. I just hope the ticket office is open.

So we ask the fans that already go what day they prefer and Sunday wins ? Do we know what day the ones that don't go want ? Seems like a pointless exercise to me.

Yes you`re right we should ve asked the fans who don`t go, which would ve been their preference.........Glad the club ignored that particular pointless exercise.

A better exercise would be to change the day - like W1gan did for example. See how it goes for a few matches (especially when a little warmer) - then make the day better with the advantages of say a Saturday evening KO allows. Pre match entertainment, and after match for the families, while no work or school day after.
Asking fans the question that already go on Sundays, will get people answering Yes because of habit, or its always been Sunday instead of the purpose of a possible change being getting extra fans going regular.

Damn, there goes the 10 lapsed season ticket holders I had lined up.

Well we all have a kick off time we would prefer and I have my own particular preference and although it was not Sundays at 3pm I think for those who still go the club are right to go with what fans who do go want.

Whatever I doubt we will attract many more over the next 4 seasons whatever the kick off time and some of that imo has to be down to a ridiculous system which has managed to reduce gates for over 90 % of clubs in the last couple of seasons.

That is not predudice it is a fact' and the idea it would exist in any other professional pro sport in any country in the Western hemisphere is quite clearly too daft to contemplate.

I read your last post too' and that I have some sympathy with' but I stick with my view as do you with yours' that I honestly think new fans will not be attracted to a closed shop 'well certainly not for those clubs locked outside of that closed shop.

That is not even legal in life or commerce. I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone could consider it a recipe for anything other than mediocrity.

I have no problem with expansion but this franchise buisness I just cannot agree with as it goes against everything I believe in' in life as in sport.

I could ve directed that at you......... So you want the club to ask fans who DON`T GO to games which would be their preferred day, thus assuming that if this body of people were given a positive reply from the club they would turn up in their hordes.
You also want to ignore the fans who have stayed loyal deeming their opinions not worthy.
Beggars belief.....

Be very interesting to know Wigans average attendance for those rare games played on a Sunday in recent years, you will be surprised and Id argue Wigans crowd would grow again if they played 3pm Sunday afternoons but Sky TV has stopped this.

I repeat "Are you for real?" I don't say ignore the fans that do go, and ask the ones that don't go. I am just saying it was pointless doing the which day thing for fans that go regular - it doesn't get extra fans going. I know you missed out on your quote what I typed but that is what I was aiming for and a bold and positive move by the club to try something different. Instead its just staying the same.

Everyone will have a personal preferance and I suppose it would have been great in a ideal world to trial some kick off times over the next few seasons to gauge if Sundays are losing or gaining support (Sat 6.30pm being my preferred as its more family friendly in summer

At the time of the survey I said that we should be asking those that don't go if they would attend if we played on a different day - those that already go will usually go whichever day we play (it may not suit everyone but Sunday also may not suit some).
And, if I remember correctly, the majority commenting on the subject on here preferred a Saturday evening KO so where does this come from:

I do apologise Lord Sugar ... just let the club know your intentions for improving our current crowds. I`m fairly sure the club will be impressed with your thoughts...

It does,nt matter what day / time the team plays if the club are,nt successful
on the field and play attractive RL the club will struggle to get people to pay out
£16 / 14 to watch im talking about getting the stayaways back and bringing in new speccies
Last season was ok but the team played boring slow RL for a great part of the season
when it mattered most , bring in a couple of exciting players with pace for next season
at least it would get people talking its no use expecting people to dish out hard earned dosh
to watch donkeys when for the same money give or talk a quid they can go to several sl clubs within a 10 mile radius of Leigh and watch racehorses


It was sad last season watching average teams like Dewsbury ect ect come to Leigh and blow us away with pace...............

Like has been said you I and Leighleigh would prefer Saturday evenings but the club has to be practical and if playing Sunday afternoon means selling more season tickets than relying on people turning up on a particular day I think the club is right on this one.

DetroitSoul also makes an extremely valid point when people who have stopped going for whatever reason hear that Dewsbury have thrashed us at home or Gateshead or Batley they are not likely to come back are they franchising or not !
