| We were awful tonight, everyones felling sorry ourselves because we didn't have a team at the start of the year, but we should of won the game!!!
Nicholson at 13 when Littler can play backrow (and not starting McGilvary)
Taylor at prop when Thornley can play prop
Bringing Breirley on when the game was nearly dead and buried
Bad desicions, bad performance........ should be in the final

| Jog on, where were you all season when the positives were too many to count. The team did us proud this season, they did us proud tonight in terms of effort if not in 'nouse' (sp?). Rowley has had a blinder, our paper thin squad has endured a hell of a lot and come through stronger. 1/4 finals of the challenge cup, semi's in the NRC, finished 2nd in the most competitive league in british rugby and were only 4 points and 5m from a GF appearence with less than a minute on the clock. All this with enough injuries at the end to have destroyed most teams, yet we remained competitive.
Fantastic season and anyone that says otherwise is either hugely negative or has an anti-leigh/rowley agenda.
I for one am PROUD of what we have achieved this year!

Really disappointed with the performance, think we all should have a little more ambition and realise we should be in a final..... All this crap about quarters of CC and 2nd in the league, it counts for nothing, we've won nothing..... With that team we had we could of reached a greater potential

Again, Jog...... On.
This season we have been over achieving and outstripping all expectations and I can't remember you posting ONCE! Now we lose, boo hoo, poor us, we got beat by a cracking eagles side who are on fire at the moment and you pop up spouting all this negative $hite. Just sod off and let us get over it in our own way. Great season, great team we just didn't have enough to go all the way. The future looks bright, the signings are awesome, which is why I don't expect to hear from you again for a while after another day or two! It'll be far too positive for you, SURELY you agree that this has been a great season for us, considering where we started from?

Yes it has been a great season and I think next year we will be very strong but mookachaka is right regarding last night.
The disappointment for me was at times we looked out enthused.
Surely brierley needed to come on a lot earlier it was sudden death football and we where well behind.
Our passing from half back was the worst I've seen it all season.
For me I think it's crucial we have an enforcer type forward in our pack for next year to compete with fev because they will be strong again.
Can't wait for it to start again

| Sorry, but mookachaka has got a point. All this lucky we have a club malarkey is all well and fair, but we knew about that at the start of the season. Having finished second in the league, we have hardly overachieved, we have been the second best team in the comp, not one to gloat but i actually posted at the start of the year that we had a top two side. Look at the team we have, of our contracted 21, ten have played in super league either with us, or elswhere. It became apparent very early on that we had the quality to do well in this league and that our main problem would be depth, which in one way i suppose caught up with us last night. The thing that annoys me is that we were massively out-enthused. Not outplayed, leeds outplayed us in the CC, but effortwise man for man in that match, we put just as much in as they did. Last night they visibly wanted it much more than us and so the hoodoo continues. I look forward to next year when our team hopefully benefit from this season together and become even more cohesive. With regards to being happy to have a club, call me ungrateful, but i want a successful club, and we have the staff to do it so these excuses that we keep making will have to be left with this season i'm afraid.

| Mookachaka's call to put Littler in the pack shows how waaaaaay off the mark he is.
Littler needed to marshall Menzie Yere and stop his momentum in attack which I think he and Duffs (who plays wide right in defence) did very well.
Also to say we had the best team in the league "on paper" is bonkers! Fev, Fax and Sheff both have a starting 13 which "on paper" would beat ours.
If you add to that the loss of Bibey, Parker, Hopkins and Goulden from a paper thin squad and we have overachived big style.
That is not to say that I thonk we shouldn't have won last night. We had enough chances but didn't take them but that is the game - that's Rugby League and why we love it.
So do I think we have had a great season - yes I do.
Am I disappointed we didn't win last njight - of course.
Am I looking forward to next year already - you bet I am!!!!!!

| I think some people need to give their head a wobble we all should be proud of how far we've come since very near liquidation this time last year & what we've achieved this season. This time last year I was gutted about our situation & all I hoped for is for us to still have a club to support & if we come through it all to not be the team proping up the table. In our season we've lost Worrincy, Bibey, Parker, Hopkins, Goulden, through injury & movements, to add to that Henderson's suspension & yet the lads pulled together swaping & changing positions through no fault of our own but with who was available & yet fought till the end & never gave up. The team spirit Rowely, coaching staff, the lads have & how professional the club is being run & presented I'm proud as punch what we've achieved with a shoe string budget in so little time. I do beLEIGHve we'll be ripping this division up next season & I'll put a wager on that one watch out next season eveyone the Leythers are coming

| We played what we had available and I had no problems with that. The grunt missing meant we were dominated but I expected that, I was disappointed we didn't change our gameplan and with the forwards missing I was somewhat confused by that.
Thought Duffy ran his blood to water on attack and defence, but thought Beswick was below par and as Nicho was outstanding I couldn't understand some of the substitutions, especially linked to those 3 and Brierley.
Gardiner has been a weak link all season defensively and offensively when passing, against the big boys he is always exposed - last night this centre area probably cost us the game, especially as we scored twice after he went off in that area. Is he a winger next year? Is he a back row? We need to work hard with him to improve, but we do have Higson for competition.
I am confused by our squad for 2013 already - Beswick, Nicho and Penky play a similar role imo so if 1 goes to half back where does that leave a developing Brierley or Ridyard. Time will tell of course and a Nicho/Penky team at 9 could be devastating.
We do need a dirty hard barsteward upfront in this league as you don't get penalised for it, but who?
Roll on 2013 but we need to revisit the marketing to reach our potential.

| I dont know about wrong selections ?As Paul had only the 7 players left that went on the pitch , maybe a few wrong tactics , its time Brierley was given more time , next season , he must start games , forget about being an impact player , he speeds up the game with his passing and running , and causes concern in the opposition line .
Considering the forwards we had missing i thought we did well , we NEARLY snatched the win , but it wasnt meant to be , give the Seagulls 18 start and you wont win , we nearly did though .
Fev beat us last week because they had 4 big props to call on , the Seagulls pack last night was bigger than ours , Tom Spencer had a blinder for me , get the lad signed up if Wigan let him go ,Ostick tried but he isnt big enough , JT tackles , but hasnt made a break all season, again hes not big enough , we missed Tommy G ,but Paul played the cards he had , didnt moan just got on with it .
I thought Duffy ran his blood to water , as did a couple of others , but the same guys are missing crucial tackles that are proving costly , again for me Jonny Pownall had a good game and hopefully we will improve next year , we need a big robust prop , i feel a fully fit Leigh 17 next season , will beat anybody .

| Thought we needed Ryan on from the last ten minutes of the first half, he speeds things up and I wish I didnt keep hearing people saying he cant tackle, he did some awesome tackles last night hes not defending in the middle, hes not big enough, again crepe hes similar build to McNally and Pownall. The lad's a winner, lets play him.
Other then that we couldn't have done any more really with the players we had available, and the lads tried their hardest, it was always going to be hard when we went 2 tries down early in the game, the first a soft try to let in, being a error by someone not catching the ball.
Then we had some of the most awful reffing decisions again if 50/50 of them would have gone our way, we would have won the game.
However Sheffield played well, they started like we did last week at Fev and they had enough in them to hold out.
Next year we will avoid this game, because we will have finished top and will have a chance like Fev to get straight to the final at the first attempt.

| I disagree, the team is the best on paper, all these players have Super League experience:
Beswick
Clay
Duffy
Gallagher
Gardner
Littler
McGilvary
McNally
Maden
Parker
Taylor
Spencer
This would be my team (not changing the 1, 6, 7, 9 obviously)
McNally
McGilvary
Maden
Gardner
Pownall
Ridyard
Duffy
Ostick
Beswick
Spencer
Littler
Briscoe
Taylor
Brierley
Thornley
Gallagher
Nicholson
2 props on the bench for a better interchange, Nicholson to interchange in his only position of 9, Brierley could of exchanged for a back rower, and Duffy go to 13 (bit like Leeds used to do with Sinfeild, McGuire, Burrow at 13, 6, 7 )
Disappointed we've got no trophies!!!

| Could't go last night and only saw bits of the game as my partner had been in hospital but from what I saw i can say we were beaten by the better team. There were a hell of a lot off passes that players had to stop or reach for, or didn't go anywhere near the intended player. We lacked any kind of organisation close to the Sheff line and their defence was very good. Some of the decisions I witnessed I was baffled by and I agree with Cush on the other thread about something needs to be sorted with the authorities as it really does look like there is a problem with Leigh. How Smithy could not see that Brambini threw the ball out from the side only for us to get penalised for a rip out is beyond me and when the ref clearly shouted "held" when Maden had the ball knocked out only to give a scrum is another. Then when Bob was wrestling in a one on one with there player he letts go of the ball a sceond after he shouts held ( even though the tackle should not have been called complete ) he gives a penalty close to our line. Thought the TV pundits were very biased also last night. A bit unhappy about the loss but our lads can hold their heads up high for what they have achieved this year and the coaching staff also. I wouldn't even bother to get into a conversation with posters who hardly ever come on here and post rubbish like I have just read and agree with Nozzy. Sad and happy in the same head. I think I will go to the GF anyway because it should be a good game with both teams in good form. Can't make my mind up who I want to win as I have no time for either coach. Heads or tails.

Coach of the year hahahaha............. I think your real name must be Allen or Paul....... Think my last post proves we have the best team on paper...... I think we've underachieved by not winning a trophey this year, hopefully Rowley will do better next year or he will have to go, plain and simple

| Next year Paul will have the cards to play with and we will then end all arguments as to his capabilities.
This year it is a 8.5/10 for me, and much better than I believed he would do. Breaking away from the breast of his dad and Arthur may have made him as a coach. Best 9 ever at Leigh though.

| Come on lad. Get real.
We had a paper thin squad. Last night how many first choice forwards were out injured ?
Players now want to come to Leigh despite the relatively poor contract money on offer.
Who do you think is responsible for the attractive RL we have watched this season ? Why is the team spirit in our side like it is ?
You must know deep down. Well I am sure most Lethers do. Roll on next season.

| I agree, if he fails next year then hes got to go........... Not looking a good start by signing two of the biggest alcos/druggies in rugby league in Aspinwall and Penky
He was a good 9 for Leigh but that has nothing to do with his coaching...... that should be cast aside, we need to strive to be the best club in the Championship, and as fans paying ridiculous money to watch standard rugby we should demand the best players and coachs......... so its a do or die season for Rowley

| We don't have THE best team on paper, i think fev take that accolade, but i certainly think we're the second best. Rowley has done a magnificent job and i wouldn't dream of asking him to leave, he has done very well, but i feel he still has a few tactical naivities to work on. Runnung up the middle for an hour with two recognized props was never going to happen. As for spouting rubbish, i don't think i am, i think i'm right to constantly want more out of the team, and the first thing i want is for this playoff bottling to stop. Being honest, we looked beaten when we took to the field last night, and after the first try, all bar duffy were staring at the ground. I really do appreciate all the hard work that has gone in to saving the club, but when you know you have a squad capable of winning things, it's very frustrating when they don't. I just hope that this has been a good sort of, consolidation season for the lads, and that it will stand them in good stead for next. Hope we get some progression instead of treading water. we have the team and the coach to improve over time into the best side in this comp IMO.

Mooka , i think you are totally wrong about Penky and Aspers , i think they will prove to be very good signings by Paul R , the lad has done a great job this season , maybe not the finish we would have wanted , but you very rarely win a hand of Poker with pocket 2-7 off suit next year Paul will have POCKET ACES .
I have evry confidence in Paul Rowley , Trevor B , and Keith Freer to steer the Centurions to glory in 2013 .
