Whats with all this "won't be much money for new signings" cr@p?
Have Dewsbury, Batley, Sheffield for example, spent loads this year? We don't pay transfer fees anymore so I would expect us to be able to afford better players than the above simply based on income. It's about getting the right players, coaching them correctly and then having a bit of luck with injuries. How much time do we spend in training learning how to pass the ball to a player who runs straight into the defence?
And on the subject of passing, kids can pass more accurately. Every time we should be attacking the line at speed players are constantly having to reach up or even jump to catch the ball - that is pathetic!
Keep Nanyn?????? Great kicker - nowt else - we don't have the luxury to carry him. Need SPEED !!!!!!! surely it is now obvious - and Nanyn has none.

| Well gambling on getting it right this season was a bit stupid wasn't it. When we were refused a SL licence last time around, instead of spitting our dummy out we should have knuckled down a made sure we were in a position to apply this time around and making sure our application was too good to turn down. Last season was a debacle and to expect IM to turn it around in one season and pull off a miracle rescue act was wishful thinking. The only thing that will get us to where we want is hard work, not pipe dreams.

Having a game plan, learning how to pass, catch and tackle would be good starting points.

Agree with all except number four, Mo. Armitstead will need a certain sized contract to remain in a 'foreign' country, Nanyn has become nowt more than a goal kicking pony and Donlan's knee's are knackered.

So that will make us a self sustaining , viable , financially sound business that can be a force in the Championship ?

| To be honest in the future I'd most like to see us playing good rugby league on a regular basis. All thoughts of SL and franchises and revenue streams etc are doing my head in, important as they are. I don't pay money to stand and watch accountants debate, I go to watch rugby league.
This is why a lot of the time I'd rather watch a video from 2000-2004 than shell out £16 of my hard earned. The quality of the game at this level has dipped in the last few years in my opinion.
Think of the crowds ten years ago; I remember very clearly, Oldham, Major Semi-Final 2000. A great game watched by about 3500. We didn't really have a hope of getting into SL that year but it didn't matter. We were playing a good style of rugby under Terzis that had been developed under Millward's first tenure. Thats why people came to watch.
Since the SL year, IMO, apart from some really good spells under Benson and some flashes this year, it just hasn't happened on the pitch enough to make the public pay to watch.
We concentrate [ifar[/i too much on off-field issues. It's not our fault; thats just the nature of the beast as it stands in this non-relegation, franchise climate. Now that our SL hopes are put to bed for at least 3 years, if not forever, I'd like to just see us focus on the team, the players, the matches and the game of rugby league. After tonight I realised we're lucky to have it in our town and it might not be around forever.

There you go then! I had 3500 stuck in my head for some reason.
Was a great day that. Coverage on Rugby League Raw as well was brilliant. Terzis with his walkie talkie "If Hough's kicking they're being rattled!" And his Ten Commandments. Classic.

| It'd be nice to think we can sign a back line to match that of the likes of batley, Sheffield etc. It's been utterly gut wrenching watching sides run round us at will for the entire second half of the season.

And isn't that the sad thing - "oh how we wish we could match Batley, Dewsbury, Sheffield" - how bad have we let our club get?
To be quite honest - i'm embarassed
I bet some Div. 1 sides would show us a thing or two about passing and running - i've watched a few.

I would much rather us to be a good team in the Championship than struggle in SL. Other than the 4 or 5 top SL sides, the others have not a cat in hells chance of ever winning 'owt.

But what if it was to be a good team in Championship 1 ?
We are what we are , where we are , when we are , but we are still our club , hopefully a strong club , in a league of strong clubs

| Oh, I agree this is a really competitive league - just that we haven't been very competitive in it in the second half of the season. Our right side defence tonight was possibly the weakest I've ever seen (recall my semi-fairweather fan status). It was a miracle we were still in the game at the end.
The optimist in me hopes that Millward would sign shrewdly in the close season but then he goes and says ' "The Club" will keep moving forwards' and his use of the 3rd person leads me to conclude that he's already gone.
Also, whilst this league is the most competitive, it isn't attracting the fans through the gate. The whole game just seems a bit rotten at the moment.

| Steve, I was more than happy last year to be a TOP div.1 side this season before we got the reprieve.
I am a sore loser (hence the number of posts tonight) so wherever we play I am happy if we are winning.

Probably because 2 weeks ago they kicked us to death early in the count attempting 40/20's, was a catch 22 situation though, don't drop back and they kick do drop and they run it wide.
Their backs were just way too big & strong, Higson had a good game though!
