just pick up your phone like me and tell sky you,re cancelling your sky subscription because your team is stuck in the national league for 3 years now there is no promotion or relegation,and you,re not paying to watch teams in super league playing for nothing half way through the season because there is now no threat of being relegated.Just think if 10,000 national league 1 fans did the same as me and cancelled there sky monthly subscription sky would be 5 million pounds down in revenue in 1 year..With such a loss sky would demand the r/f/league bring back pro/relegation back next season to the super league

Agree completely. The whole thing about being able to put proper long term plans in place with the new system is rubbish. The thing about the old system that encouraged clubs to go for broke was the uncertainty of whether a particular season would be their last chance before the drawbridge was pulled up. If we'd simply guaranteed P&R based on on-field performances, but subject to meeting minimum off-field standards, and ensured that all clubs and standards were assessed fairly across the board (including current SL clubs and "expansion" clubs), then everybody would have been able to plan for long-term improvement just as easily (if not more easily) than by removing P&R altogether.

Look at the applications submitted by Leigh, Widnes, Fax etc this time. After 3 years with less spectators watching a competition that offers nothing to play for, the NL clubs will be lucky if they are able to even maintain the same standard of infrastructure in 2012, never mind trying to improve it in that time, so if we're not good enough now what chance do we have in 2012? And that's without the possibility of further expansion clubs like Toulouse coming into NL in the meantime and expecting to be fast-tracked like Celtics. The only chance us/Widnes/Fax have is hoping one of the current SL clubs goes bust or loses their plans for new grounds etc. And I don't want to be hoping for other clubs to fail as the only way my club has any chance of getting a shot, just like I hate the idea of clubs in the bottom half of SL pocketing their SKY money and finishing comfortably bottom of the pile, but knowing their SL status is safe and their payday is guaranteed next season as well, while so much hard work in the NL clubs goes unrewarded. All clubs go through good times and bad times (thats sport) - in the good times you deserve your success to give you a chance to test yourself at a higher level (if there is one) and in the bad times if you're not good enough you make way for someone else until you can improve your standards.

It really is time we got over this and concentrated on trying to make the club better!! Nothing is going to bring back p & r unless something drastically hapens which I can't see!

We need to look at home and how we can get more fans, better rugby etc and then if we have a perfect application worry about gettin in SL!

Well I actually agree 100% with the last poster.

Fax are currently the best side at our level. We should be trying to be a better side than them.

We are stuck this season because of deals done after Tony Benson left. Those deals are over at the end of the season.

Agree with Frank. But to answer Rantunrave - I got rid of Sky sports last year and haven't gone back. I hate Sky and would rather see us give the TV rights away to a terrestrial channel for nowt than pay Murdoch a penny. And it's funny how a fan of Gateshead (in all probability the next "fashionable" club in the RFL's eyes) now thinks people standing up to Sky is pathetic.....

If everyone who supported a non SL team who subscribes to SKY cancelled and stopped going to pubs that showed SL on Friday and telling the landlord why, yes I think it could make a differance.

If everyone thought its not worth trying because it won't make a differance nothing would happen in this world of any significance.

Agree with Twitch - I don't expect for a minute that Sky will give a flying wotsit about me (IMO they've already proved they don't care about the game of RL at all). But at least I'm not still paying them my money for the privilege of letting them poop on me from a great height. If you find that pathetic or funny, fair enough - you keep stumping up your cash and let them keep ruining the game.....

every decent player would be playing union and the top clubs would eventually be part time.

the fact is we are a minority sport but because of sky we actually have a uk audience that incedibally matches union club games.

The vast majority of Skys money has gone into the back pockets of SL players a high % being from overseas.If thats what makes you happy great but it certainly does nothing for me and my love of the game.

RL is more than 14 SL clubs and one day when its too late the powers that be will realize this.
