based on what I have read here - if not being able to tackle is an injury - yes

Keith read what I put on another thread. He wasn't alone with his bad defence in parts. That Barrow team should have made it to the halfway on paper but he is the one that kept getting left on his own on the wing. Our sliding defence is a joke and I really feel for the lad. I'm not saying he didn't make mistakes but for people shouting " get that effin Brown off the field" and others shouting "come on Brown. Get into the game". Get into the game? What did they expect? For him to run around the field tacking anything that moved? I'm gutted for the lad. I don't know if he was injured but if not physically he must be mentally now.

I've not spoken to anyone so don't know if injured or taken off for other reasons all I will say is Paul Rowley is the best qualified person in this town to make the judgement on a player and he is paid to do so.

Alex is a SL quality player so I'm sure will prove his worth over the course of the season.

Getting on players back will never help so we need to back the kid and help him build his confidence as lets not forget its a new environment and a new club and he's still settling in.

I've watched it a few times now Keith and if one player alters his defending angle ( and he does do it looking to intercept the ball or a player running inside) they all follow. So instead of sliding out wide they start to drift inside.

Fred Parky's videos are always good footage so Rowls will have plenty of time dissecting it & putting things right for all the lads to improve their game

Agree with Mr chairman here... And after doing a sports coaching course at university.. With a certain Mr Paul Rowley i feel i can have an opinion. I noticed this a few weeks ago in the league last week. When we are being attacked out wide in their half there is a serious lack of communication. Brown was left seriously isolated during the games but there was no communication between him and his centre. Don't get me wrong we are playing amazing rugby. BUT if we can get that sorted and defending kicks we will be so strong!

Rowls & Jukesy would get bored if they didn't have something to fix up this week guys.

Let's remember teams have teams within teams.

I.e left, right and core.

Right side we have AJ, Stu and Tommy G all been playing together a while and know each other's game.

Left we have Alex, Tom and Matt Sarsfield all new to the club and learning about each other still.

We've only conceded 20 pts in two games and scored 104 so while I'm sure Rowls will work on certain areas I'm pretty sure he will be sleeping well tonight.

Defensive units and communication in all sports usually improve with game time.

Yet there are still players being slated by some on here. Words fail me.

Laughable aint it. Let in only 20 and some players are still rusty. We will only improve this season and i can not wait. Someone is in for a hiding!

Next Sunday we have no worries about our forwards but I expect Alex Brown will be itching to show how good he can be.

PR has a very tough job now given the strength of depth in his squad.

I just don't think its right to respond to every piece of criticism, especially when it relates to players, as tempting as it is when you have a real stake in things as well as being a fan, first and foremost.

A weakness has been identified which didn't alter the result today but might bite us on the rear in the future if its not fixed.

Singling out individuals may be unfair, I don't know as I obviously wasn't at the game. But everyone is entitled to their opinion. There's no need to come on here and defend a player or team development. They can do their talking on the pitch.

BOM - shout out all the good stuff you're doing on this board as much as you want, and its great to see the passion, enthusiasm and progress, but please leave at least some of the discussions to fend for themselves. I find it a bit suffocating and perhaps others do as well...

Well said Andy lets not forget that's the second week we have stuck 52 points on someone so all is not that bad . Alex brown is a top player we have seen what he can do in the first game against pies let's get behind him and all the lads .. Bring on haven...

If you bother to read what this thread is originally about you would see that what I posted is in defence of Alex brown and people slating players so early in in the season. I am merely pointing out that it wasn't all his fault.

I think that's a tad unfair. There is nothing in Andy's post that says he is a board member to me. I can just read a fans perspective like most are on here.

Give the lad a chance ffs. I remember a player who was far far worse than Alex is in defence, he could hardly catch a ball and went hiding when he had to tackle anyone.
Alex (along with some others) will learn where to fit in with each other and tighten up the left side.

Oh! the lads name who couldn't catch a ball or defend a line, his name was Martin Offiah. The St Helens BODs called him "An uncoordernated Clown" when Murphy wanted him,

Andy I for one have enjoyed the refreshing truth you bring to this forum,mapleyther does not speak for the majority on hear although he is entitled to his opinion. Don't let anybody put you off joining in these discussions.

I have always found it annoying when supporters travel away to SUPPORT their team then look for a target to throw abuse at. I know they are only a small minority of stupid gobbins but they need persuading by the majority to find something else to do on match days.

A good point there Andy & I agree Alex,Tom & Matt will strike up a good understanding together as unit.

Don't forget Tom was Right centre at Sheffield and Right wing last time with us.

Personally I think Alex will be OK , when the grounds get drier and harder he will come into his own , we have been lacking speed on the wing for a while now , but in Alex and Adam Higson we now have it , I didn't think Higson could motor like he has been doing , I hope he can stay clear of injury , he deserves a change of luck , getting back to Brown , I didn't hear anyone having a go at him , but Salfordlad said he spoke to him near the dugout , trying to cheer him up , that's all you need when you are down , Frank on yer shoulder , and in yer ear .
