Thompson was an excellent player at U16 level, he was big and fast. However as other players caught up with him size wise he became less and less effective, and in his last year at U19 level struggled to hold his place. I don't know how he did at Wire as I can't recall him playing against Wigan at reserve level. It'll be interesting to see if/how he develops.

Don't expect too much from him I'm afraid. We had him on loan at Rovers, he played three games and unfortunately was awful in every one. Hope he improves if he gets regular game time, but don't hold your breath.

Very strong winger but lacks things in other areas. Wouldn't expect too much of him at this stage anyway.
