Massive risk with PR going with one half back and an extra forward last night but I thought it was great thinking. A brave decision made and if it backfired he wouldve probably received some stick. Credit were credits due.

Briscoe is a very talented lad, he seems to have put a bit of size on this year and loves the impact of the tackle.
The decision allowed Sheffield to put Riddy under a lot of kick pressure as he was the only option, contrast this with the options at 6/7 they had. The only time we put pressure on was when the 6 was hurt and we got to the 7 second half.
I feel the conditions helped his decision but he had the balls to make it - the sign of a good coach.

In fairness Mo, McNally stepped in to the line for the 4th/5th tackles and put in a couple of decent kicks once he had a chance to get his range a bit.

It was a very brave decision from Rowley to lose a half back in favour of an extra forward and one that I was far from convinced about but he made exactly the right call, well done to him.

Great tactics last night Briscoe as an extra 'grunt' forward as Sheffield were always going to come at us from the start and tire themselves out running at our middle defensive line, then bring on the runner Brierley, a little too early perhaps as the were just getting on a roll and with the loss of the extra 'grunt' continued on it, but by the second half their forwards were tired, our fitness told and gaps eventually came evident as the game went on which allowed Brierley and Riddy to do their stuff.
Pity there aren't 5 subs as in the second half Nico's pace from Dummy half would have crippled them, but Paul had to go with the pace man and three other forwards on the bench the weather dictated the tactics and Paul took full advantage, well done guys (it looks even better second time around) but a big wrap for the coaching team.

Definitely! I have to say Paul and his team are coming across as very 'savvy'. Just had to text congrats. to him and the team.

The extra forward took it out of them and then the change of pace and extra play maker option finished them off.
The lads started on fire which shows that they were confident in PR's start tactics, and they didn't panic when Sheffield hit back.
I loved Paul's comment in the half time interview when he said he'd told the players to concentrate on what's coming next not what just happened. And he obviously told them to cut out giving the ref a chance to blow because we really cleaned our act up in the second half which let the pace of the game flow more and certainly worked for us. A lot is said about the backs of Sheffield (and rightly so) but our guys played them off the park in attack and defense.
Our forwards won the middle, our half moved the ball better. Most importantly though, our coaching team out coached the opposition. From team selection to game tactics (what was with that kicking on the 3-4th tackle) we won the day.
