Wrighty had asked for a more permenant poition, but because of his commitments to his personal training company wanted a long term contract that Des obviously couldnt commit too. Clarke going back on same terms as he is on at Wigan I have been told.
Don't know what the crack is with des and Clarke as he seems to be highly rated amongst both players and fans. Maybe Des can't wrap him round his little finger and be a part of the team selection process like he seems he is with the rest of the coaches that have been through of late.
Nigel Wright had stressed that a 'long-term' (i.e. 2-3 years) appointment would be best for the club. He pointed out that the players had the upper hand, knowing that they could sit back, if they didn't like a coach, and he would be out, after a few months. He had indicated that he was willing to give up his lucrative personal trainer business, in favour of some security, and a move to the North of England.
This is Dave Clark's third spell at the helm. His previous two were successful, but that didn't seem to do the trick for Des, either!
