Their stranglehold over industry held our country back and destroyed the manufacturing sector in the UK in the 1970's. They made UK industry un-competetive in the modern world with the ridiculous pay demands and working conditions. Thousands of companies shipped out of the UK to countries like Germany where they could manufacture competitively. The Union men will never admit to that though, they were doing it for their members rights!! Manufacturing has never recovered and the Union men had the gaul to blame it on governments!
