If you look over last season and this, Chris Riley makes more errors then Kevin Penny, but that will be ignored. Riley also cost us a try in the semi which helped Wigan get a sniff...ignored again, he got rinsed last week by Amos Roberts...ignored again. If any of these had happened to Penny we'd be getting threads like these. It's disgusting. I'd like to point out that I'm not having a pop at Riley just pointing out that all players make mistakes but some are unfairly singled out.

This is only a fair conversation to have when we have something to judge him over, over a period of time.

Totally Agree it was the same with Monaghan a couple of months ago everyone hated him so much that they only seemed too want to single out the difficult things in their game , some people booing penny on friday night allbeit not many and also sarcastic chanting too him IMO is the reason why we are not the best fans in the league and somewhat away , it wouldnt surprise me if penny did just leave you could tell from the second half the way he was trying so hard to make up for it he is the kind of player we want at warrington but thats not enough for quite a few of the fans at the HJ

There are some incredibly short memories on this Site. It's not that long ago that KP was the best thing since Sliced Bread. There are people here wanting him to fail, and every time he makes any kind of error they glory in it.

I really hope no professional sportsman reads fans forum websites (including this one!!).
They could very easily lose the will to live!!

At the very top level the difference between players is often psychological -hence all of the emphasis on 'imagery' and 'visualization'.

Even if they play well there will always be a negative poster.
They're entitled to their opinion, but any professional worth his salt won't look on these websites.

Regarding Penny - he has tremendous speed but is still new to RL. The likes of Briers have been playign since the age of 10 or so.
TS recoginises this, and still thinks he has a future at Warrington - maybe not this year or next. So he's just got to apply himself and ignore all the doom-mongers.

Pat Richards needs to be dropped as well, he's dropped 2 balls that have led to 12 points. Awful.

When Penny took up his position near me at the start of the 2nd half he got a mostly good reception from the SW corner. Odd because a few of them had an audible winge about him when he made his (admittedly, awful) mistake from the 20 metre restart.

Well, I think booing the team is a whole is stupid, counterproductive and something I will never do. However, I can understand why some people would want to do it and in my view they at least have the right to make that choice, having paid their cash, even if me and Tony Smith disagree with it, however...

...booing a particular player is, in my view, unforgiveable for the most part, especially when the player in question tries so hard, every single second he is on the field. He has his faults and he has his assets. The only remaining question is whether he can eradicate his faults to the extent that he is worth a place in the team. His assets mean it is well worth making the effort. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that the Warrington supporters are willing to wait any longer. For the lad's sake, I genuinely hope it is our loss if that is the case.
