| Reminds me a bit of the Richie Mathers signing but Richie had a few grand final rings.
I guess he has a great attitude and very professional in terms of training etc. If Powell can do what has done with Jordan Turner it could be good signing.
Probably worthwhile the club investing in a minibus to travel from Cas every day.
On a side note. Who was the last Yorkshire man we had as coach. Maybe Plange and that was more of a caretaker role but going back before that I can't remember one.

Sironen is nothing to shout about. Not that it makes me any happier about the minikin signing.

| Powell seems to be taking the easy option of signing players he knows or has coached previously. Not the sign of a confident coach me thinks. Taking the easy option.

| I think he’s a solid super league squad player, can cover a few positions at wing & centre. A mark down from Mamo, given Mamo’s form this year. He’s obviously familiar with Powell I think he will go well not the most spectacular signing unfortunately…Does make you wonder abit about the Ashton situation, as no mention about him signing a new deal yet, not even a whisper..

Unfortunately, it was Lowes.
I'm still having therapy.

not uncommon, a new coach bringing in players he's worked with before, with the intention of helping get his philosophy over to the playing group

If he’s coming in to cover the original Mamo role as centre / wing cover its an ok signing. If he’s been brought in as a replacement for Lineham I’m not so sure.
Mamo is too expensive now to cover that outside back cover role - and too good too so any replacement for his original position in the squad was always going to be a step down.

| Surely Mata’utia is the replacement for Mamo and Minikin is likely to be better than we have seen from Lineham this season.

| He could turn out to be a decent signing but if Saints had signed him I think we'd be having a chuckle at their expense.

| Would prefer that Connor Wrench was given a chance, from what I have seen of him in the Wigan away game and his 4 tries in the Academy game recently.

| In a salary capped sport, and with a relatively small talent pool from which to draw, I think that Minikin would be a good fit. With the players that we already have on marquee or decent money, plus the need to either retain or replace Hill, then we have to scale back our expectations in other positions. Thewlis isn’t a winger in the long term, he’s a Full Back. Ashton could be a great winger but he needs to show that his injuries were a blip and that he’s not the next Gary Wheeler.

| Just hope we're in the market for a prop, especially if Hill is leaving. Bullock and a season-missing Harrison can't be it surely?

Heard He's Turned down Huddersfield as we've offered him a 2 year deal, so i hope that's true.
Forward pack next year is looking like Hill, Cooper, Philbin, Mulhern, Bullock, Butler, Doro and Harrison at the end of the year or 2023. not awe inspiring but not the worst pack in the world.
As for Minikin he's dependable with a bit of skill and speed thrown in so as a back up we could do worse.
Someone said this signing shows Powell has no confidence which is a daft comment in general about powell, but this signing just indicates powell knows what Minikin is all about and how to coach him.
Same with Holmes and Mata'utia, we know exactly what we are getting and i'm happy with them, so lets give Minikin a chance as he could do very well for us?

This ^^^^
Great news about Hill if that's confirmed. I'm not sure about 2 years but we wouldn't have got better (for next season anyway) IMO. I'm happy with all the signings so far, I hope a few more are announced and I would like to see Matty Ashton retained as well personally. I think he's worth another year at least, it's a bit risky to go much longer longer than that with his injury record though really, 2 years max.

The trend appears to be that the announcement takes place after weve played their current team. So, expect something formal on Monday.

I agree with this. We have what I assume are three big earners - Clark, Widdop, Williams. I imagine the next level are Ratchford, King (?), Charnley, Hill, Cooper, Currie. Even with the marquee exemption, we can't have many more at that level, so players like Minikin will always need recruiting. Some will work out, some won't.

| I think we've enough competition/cover in the squad without Minikin.
Maybe Ashton won't stay.
I hope he does as he IS fast.
Mamo was said to be very fast, but couldn't catch Percival.

well to be fair to him, he had ratch and someone else in front, blocking him, i said at the time, they should have got out the way and let him burn him down, not very smart play, and poorer tackling
