Leeds paid you £30k for Alan rathbone once upon a time. He got his jaw broken in first match and never played again.

Michael Sullivan

Still not sure why we signed him, or what position he was suppose to be playing in - seemed we'd made the same "mistake" with Michael Monaghan, but thankfully that worked out well once he'd switched to hooker.

Steve Georgalis, Michael Eagar and Tony Tatupu. Although some would say the settled in too well into the scene at the time.

Probably only me with this one, but never could take to Mike Forshaw. His signing didn't sit right with me

Both were moved from 7 to 9 in the NRL then back to 7 for us, although Sullivan was very quick and more suited to 9 I don't think his face fitted he only had to sneeze and he would be hauled off we possibly played him wrong, as you say just not right.

Not sure we put our brains in gear when signing Sullivan. With his well documented gambling problems we housed him right inbetween two bookies...classic wire.

Have we all forgotten Big Roy already and his role model Big Paul? tbh though Currier was an absolute stinker!

Dave Myers from Widnes - was meant to be a wunderkind but turned about to be a lazy waster.

Andy Currier - still makes me shudder to remeber him even now!

Currier was good for Widnes but cr@p for us - especially as he was signed after the boards botched negotiations with Allan Bateman.

Many of these were bad signings but how many had this effect BEFORE they had pulled on the shirt?

Chris O'Sullivan - bone idle on a big wage
Terry Day - bucket full of tries for Hull. Did he score for us
Paul Younane - Our first signing after the Aussie embargo was lifted - useless
Craig Tietzel - Proof that Sir Les was never a talent scout
Currier - Words fail me
Bruce McGuire - Not bad, just never hit the heights he did at Sheffield

I also found it odd at the time when we signed Brian Carney.

He was a player I really liked, but after his "retirement" and excursion to RU I was shocked we he came to us.

Just wonder how it might have worked out had he not had the arm break after 4 games and continued playing, rather than going into the backroom staff.

Am really surprised nobody has mentioned Gary Wheeler. One of the oddest signings ever for me.

Steve Blakeley - Looked great for Salford, but didn't look right with us. Played 10 games and then returned to Salford.
Matt Rodwell - He shouldn't have reconsidered his retirement, his heart wasn't in it due to coming off a poor season, and he was injured.

John Wilshere - Just couldn't get himself fit for 1st team, and I then saw him play awful in the reserves. Went on to do alright for Leigh and Salford.

Carvell and Fozzard changed initial opinions on their injury records.

Exactly what I thought.
We got him only because Saints didn't want him not because we did.

I always felt Reg Bowden player/coach wasn't right either.

I do however credit him for putting together the foundation of the best Wire pack I ever saw.

I was never comfortable with the stripping of the Fulham/London team

OK Steve Diamond & Hussein M'Barki were both rubbish. But Bob Jackson was one of the best signings we ever made.

Don't forget Dave Allen. In fact, the digtally challenged, whisky drinking, stool sitting, Irish funnyman of the same name, would have made a better RL player.

I forgot about Dave Allen. When Steve Diamond & Hussein M'Barki left Fulham they were their leading goal & try scorers. So what went wrong?
