I just hope the RFL throw the book at him and don't bottle it because he's an international player. He's the highest profile player to be found guilty of the sort of offence that I know of and I'd hate to think the powers that be would take that into consideration over such a serious breech of rules.

On the face of it, Hock must be very stupid. He's brought shame on himself, his club and the whole of ruigby league.
This isn't a Wigan thing (not that anybody said it was) but if he's stupid then so are others who have been found guilty of taking banned substances or have said they took them after they retired.
Andrew Johns, Richie Barnett plus the academy lad - all played for Wire.
Doesn't make comfortable reading for me whichever way you look at it.

barnett wasn't taking anything illegal, I seem to recall some hormone level(i dunno) agreement/quota had been lowered from the year previously and he was only a smidge over that, it wasn't that he was taking any questionable substances. |

I'm not defending him but
He hasn't been tested positive for Cocaine, he has tested positive for Benzoylecgonine which is found in cocaine.
However upon doing a little research on the substance i came across this:
"Small amounts may be traced back to certain OTC (over the counter) medications, after having been metabolised in the liver".
"Benzoylecgonine is used as the main pharmaceutical ingredient in the prescription drug Esterom, a topical solution used for the relief of muscle pain".
So depending on how much substance has been found in the test then this could pose as a legitimate excuse.
