| Atkins is one of my favourite Wire players but he would be out of his depth against the Aussies, so would Bridge, so would Riley, the only Warrington players that I think could cut it in their respective positions are Morley, Carvell and Westwood.
Much as people on here hate Martin Gleeson that's one of the things that marked him out from the competition, Gleeson played well against Australia, better than the likes of Senior, Connolly and Newlove ever did, so its a shame to see him stuck without a club now because he was a rare British outside back that had actual international quality.
In fact since the start of the SL era I would only say Robinson, Carney and Gleeson have been up to the Aussies level in the outside backs.

| not buying into all this coach costing a player his place in the england side. A coach's job is to pick a team that he thinks will win his club the match, the coach's wont be giving a seconds thought about international games, and rightly so. If the player is good enough the national coach will spot his talents and pick him, thats his job after all. just sayin like

I disagree. I think with Inglis injured and the wrong selections at centre to replace him, centre is the weakest position in that current Aussie 4 Nations squad. Atkins has got better and better every week and, for me, was the stand-out SL player in August and September. His defence is now very good and he's realising how big he is so has got an edge with ball in hand. I think he'd do well in this 4 Nations.
I agree with all the rest of your post.

Improved from what though? McBanana has obviously seen enough of him at international level to know he won't cut it.

In the England squad it lists O'Loughlin who has ruled himself out through injury. Roby, Ellis, Reed, Heightington & Chase aren't listed.

Ohhh look, Suzy's back, after her self imposed exile, after the Worriers 'drybumming' by Warrington in early Sept
fyi, Tomkins J, would get shown up by the Aussies (particularly at centre), as I believe Atkins would, along with several other England players. I'd LOVE to be proved wrong though, over the coming weeks.

Atkins' international record speaks for itself, looks good against the whipping boys and looks like a rabbit caught in the headlights against the bigger boys. Akin to his SL record this season, really.

You have just described 95% of the england team never mind just atkins, including golden boy and his older "special" brother. That is why we never win anything, because we all look e against the big boys. Sam was nowhere to be seen against Aus, NZ and PNG last year so are you saying sam is a shocking player because he doesn't turn up in internationals? I guess not, so jog on.

Have a look at the post in question.
It reads,'I heard a rumour from someone I worked with who does something else now, that a player had signed for a club, but hang on it might be another club, but I wasn't really listening and I'm not really interested, but I thought I'd post it on here anyway.'

I admit it was bit jittery. No need to say he needs care in the community though. Harsh, basically forgot what somebody told him.

| Both S Tomkins and R Atkins have had a very successful season!!! Both have grown in confidence and are the form players in their positions!!! Therefore in my opinion, completely dis-regarding what happened a year ago....both players should be in the England team in their relevant positions!!!
Too often have England managers played "experienced players" in whatever positions, sometimes out of position, regardless of the season they've had!! Completely casting aside any quality youngsters that they claim to be inexperienced!!! How are they to get experience at international level?? particularly if theyve had a wow of a season, to then not to be picked.....a great moral boost!! And perhaps a reason some players do look else where for employment...RU??!! This is the difference between England RL and The Aussies, they're not afraid to blood the youngsters, and stand by them if they have a bad game!
I am a Wigan supporter..and yes I am salivating at the thought of having Atkins in the Wigan line-up....tries a plenty!!! would love him in cherry and white!!! Along with Harrison, Wood, and M. Monaghan!!

I didn't mind. I'm often in need of care! It was one of them things. The conversation did happen but that particular part of the convo was at the end, an afterthought almost, after talking about Super League and the NRL for a few minutes and i had a million and one things to do and on my mind at the time and i wasn't really listening to her properly. I went away from that chat with Saracens in my head, but then this thread popped up and the OP mentioned Quins, and i thought "hang on, was it Quins or Saracens?!"
Anyway, back to the topic...

The irony of Phil 'Wigan' Clarke working as a consultant for the Management Agents representing the Tomkins brothers who are doing their bit in brokering a deal which will see at least one of them in a move over to yawnion. You couldn't make it up.
