Sure. I was about 10ft away and there was a bit of daylight between his hand and the ball when he first took the kick in, he did well to get it under control.

didnt realise I had "Freaked out" in that response ...??
I just pointed out a bit of a hypocrytical post.....which you have since endorsed by claiming it was now a "very high kick"....making out Briers kick was poor and Kings jump was superhuman........
it was great kick and a great jump and put down....that simple really you couldnt have one without the other but you want it that way..!!!
I saw that King was open and shouted "kings in, kings in here !!" and knew that When Briers shaped to Kick it was going to be a quality kick and King should be in a great position to score..... thats not a reaction/feeling I'd get from an average player
Briers is 31 in June his career here will soon be over because of his age and nothing else.....
I just hate people making stuff up because they dont like a player thats all
I really dont like Monaghan (something about him I guess)but I cant make stuff up about him to try and prove why everyone else should have the same point of view.....
he had a good game up until his injury I have no problem with it I hope his form improves....
people want Briers and Penny to fail because they think it makes them look clever....
you had the worst response possible to one of your posts ....LWF applauding it

Utter nonsense, if a player is good enough to play on then he's age doesn't make a difference, Why hasn't Sean Long been shipped out of St.Helens when he's 33 in September

I am trying to give King some credit here for doing well in dealing with the kick as it wasn't the foregone conclusion that you seem to think (and it may have been the sort of thing he would have fumbled when his confidence was low). And how you can tell that his hands are on the ball all the way down from that video clip I really don't know.
But I must bow to your encyclopaedic and exhaustive knowledge of rugby league, the evidence of which litters this site, particularly the absolute corkers concerning Kevin Penny below. Then again I suppose you have to be right at least once in your life.

I wouldn't bother trying to explain to some of the 'experts' on here; it always seems that British players= bad, Overseas players= good no matter what in this town.
Look at the MOM voting on this site; Harrison was a clear MOM (put it this way Tony Smith knows it) but because King is Aussie and has big hair he is up there with the voting. And now we have Briers who has been a fine servant to this club, playing through the period when the club could have folded either through relegation or bankruptcy, being talked about in a very shabby fashion.
I am almost tempted to tell all the towns juniors to go and play for Wigan or Sintellins in the future to avoid being written off by some of the idiots that turn up at the HJ. Look at the scapegoats over the years; Wainwright, Clarke, Riley, Penny...

Blimey you should be a politician mate the way you add spin to all your posts. READ what I posted.
1. I never said Kings jump was superhuman.
2. Briers kick WAS high, but as I said in response Briers had an average game, some good things some bad. Are you saying he was outstanding on Sunday? If you are you were watching a different game to me!
3. What in my post was I 'making up' for chrissake! The fact that IMO he had an average game or the fact that IMO he has been a good servant to Wires?!
4. Where did I ONCE say I wanted either Briers or Penny (a player I haven't even mentioned) to fail. Why the hell as a Wire fan would I want ANY of our players to fail?! C'mon mate think before typing eh!
To make it crystal clear my posts says the following, I thought that Briers game [size=200ON SUNDAY[/size was average IMO.
The words 'on Sunday' are quite important here.. not his performances over the past seasons...SUNDAY. Now lets move on.
By the way this hate campaign you have against LWF is a bit childish don't you think? I might not agree with everything he says just like I don't agree with a lot of the posters on here, but surely there is a right way and a wrong to address people.

| Couldn't agree more Bobby, many posters on here like to put spins on post's and that's when people start to get annoyed by being goaded and antagonised into biting back, warning's are then given out like cough drops to the people who bite back (not calling the mods here), There are a few people on here who like to use personal insults and im very happy to say that im not one of them, also pointing out spelling mistakes is a bit pathetic to but ey oh rant over.
Back to the topic in hand, Flying Biscuit can you explain why Briers will be finished at Warrington soon I hear you say for age reasons and nothing else, Why is Sean Long still at Saints when he's coming up to 33

well thats something to do with being given a 5 year contract in 2003 when he was 26 in the prime of his career and the country's best scrum half.... he extended that by a season last year so his contract is up at the end of this season...I'd be suprised if he got a new contract even though they dont have a ready made replacement for him
Sean long has played alongside some of the greatest players in the superleague era Cunningham, Sculthorpe, Lyon, even the average joes like Joynt, Gleeson Newlove, tommy Martyn.....were great players to play alongside and Long could be afforded the luxury of not playing well with out the world coming down him saying he is crap....
Lee Briers has largely played alongside some real tat and Money grabbing mercenaries...........
listen before you go on one and Rob wire will back me up. Ive said (pre Tony Smith arriving) we wont win anything while Lee Briers is here...I dont know why it was just a gut feeling....
call it a lack of profesionalism or lack of winning mentality but there was something there that I had my doubts about.....so i dont think he's the answer to our prayers but he doesnt deserve to recieve the flak he's getting....
it just sticks in my stomach that a the highest paid player and most poorly performing player does a W@nker sign to fans and he's a hero and Lee Briers and Kevin Penny are constantly ridiculed......is it any wonder the other fans ridicule us so much....
Like mark_m has mentioned earlier King receiving so many MOM votes is ridiculous Harison was head and shoulders above him in every aspect of Rugby League.....
anyway Sean Long great player loads of Harry sunderlands, lance todds and other medals and relatively injury free and no competition for his place thats why he's still playing...

just give some credit to Briers in the try that was the Highlight of your season is that too much to ask..... a pin point kick in windy conditions....
I honestly thought he was a constant threat to Hull kr and gave us plenty of options ... we scored two tries from his kicks and he made a try saving tackle if thats average then fair do's

Right fine, I have no problem at all (especially after seeing it on the SL highlights) that yes it was a decent kick by Briers, however this isn't the point of my original thread.
Watching the match I thought Briers was ok, not great, not bad.. average the word I used in my post. It certainly wasn't a post to start some sort of witch-hunt wanting Briers to leave. Like I also said he has been a good servant to Wires over many years.
My other comment eluded to the fact that I believe that we have had the best years from Briers so IF he was to go to Barrow fair enough.

Bang on, sticks in my throat too. Briers spoke out about the boo boys and expressed his gratitude towards the fans who stick by the team and his (admittedly clumsily put) words were twisted against him and he was turned into a hate figure. Matt King reacts to fans with an offensive hand gesture and x rated words but because he apologised is suddenly a hero. Bizarre.

| I reckon Briers has been one of the best 3 players at the club during every season he has been here - that's impressive by anyone's standards.
He didn't get many chances at international level, so it's hard to judge how good he could have been, but I do remember him having an absolute blinder for Wales against Australia in the World Cup, when a team made up of mainly NL players gave the World Champs a real scare.
