Steady Biscuit, sounds like you're building the lad up, don't want to do that, he might get cocky.

That was just an example.
Tomkins defence is better than Mylers.
Tomkins will at least be in the position to tackle even though most players wont pull off a tackle one on one with him, Tomkins will have a chance through technique and positioning, Myler will be hiding, Tomkins gets stuck in and he will irritate the aussies.

| The debate shouldn't be Tomkins or Myler after tonight. It should now be McGuire or Tomkins and to me Tomkins would be winning by a street if only Sinfield would step up to the plate and produce his organising form like at Leeds.
If Sinfield can find his feet at this level the 2 young lads in Tomkins and Myler will thrive.
Eastmond should take either the fullback or left centre berth next week aswell. We need to pick these attacking youngsters and a monster pack including both Carvell and Crabtree imo.

Funny thing is the lad would actually have a go there.
In all seriousness though he has as many weaknesses as Myler but the thing is the pair of them have no more then an experienced player like McGuire and both look to have more attributes at the moment.
Like i say if only Sinfield would step up we could play the pair of them but if he doesn't both could end up with egg on their faces against the Australians.

| I think Sinfield's overrated to be honest. I'd rather us go with a workhorse at loose, like Lockers or Ellis, and at least try to match the Aussies for strength and industry. People will point to Sinfield's defensive stats, but they don't tell the story, for me, he's easily targeted and he's a bit 'soft'.
Some people have said play Sinfield at 6, it's a possibility, but I dunno, I'm not keen on Sinfield at this level, he looks well out of his depth.
As for Myler and this whole organization thing that keeps popping up. Call me a little dumb, but I'm not fully certain what this organization is. Is it organizing the plays? Setting up the defence for certain moves? Keeping communication throughout the team? Is it gaining the side good metres and position via kicking? Could somebody give me an example of somebody currently playing who's a great organizer at 7? Is JT?

| Myler is miles behind Tomkins and Eastmond. I know people will point to the fact he scored two tries last night but he was anoymous the rest of the game.

| I did'nt know Myler was playing until I saw him trudging off the pitch at h/t.
Took his tries well enough, but was'nt involved as much as I'd have liked.
Smith has an awful lot of work on his hands before next weeks game, especially in defense. To have a chance, we must play players in their correct positions and start off with Tompkins and Eastmond as halfbacks.

The only people defending McGuire are the Leeds fans.
I really don't understand how McGuire and Sinfield can play so well in the Grand Final and be so poor last night.
I questioned McGuire and Sinfields kicking game, and this was the Leeds answer.
Quote ="sgtwilko"thought sinfield and mcguire played and kicked well! thought myler did most of the kicking that was poor! but thought a lot of pressure that was put on our kickers came from roby who simply has crap dummy half distribution
Thought roby, Moore, graham, burgess, Westwood, shenton, myler and briscoe were the players that really need to have a look at themselves.'"

McGuire has been far from criticism on the Wigan board and me along with plenty of others would leave him out for next week. He should have put his hand up last night alongside a young halfback in Myler and took on the responsibility but he didn't and had a woeful game.
As for Ben Westwood he struggled along with plenty of others and i would leave him out next week but thats not a witch hunt against him. I rate him highly and would have had him in my superleague dream team but next week i want to see us pack the backs with young exciting talent and protect them with a huge pack bringing in Carvell and Crabtree on the bench with Crabtree playing 2nd row.

And you told me I don't contribute (even though I do)
This is brilliant
After watching the game again I only feel that wire fans and Tony Smith have been made to look abit silly for their opinions.
Myler was very very poor other than his two well taken tries, his defence and positioning caused chaos and where wwas this organisation that Tony Smith put him in the team for? I did not see him talking or setting the line or anything! Tomkins does that every week for us and last week against Wales.
Still not notcied it's only Warrington fans who actually want Myler in the team over Tomkins?
