I haven't seen the replay and didn't have a good view - so if it was a bad tackle then yes he deserves a ban end of.

But for the Warrington fans calling him a liability and infuriating in this thread - get real! It was quite amusing that the chief culprit is the same poster criticising long term fans for venting their frustration at players displaying a distinct lack of effort on another thread - something you could never accuse Westwood of.

He has been easily our most consistent player for the last three seasons, adding a great deal to our defence and attack.

Players like Westwood are always going to play on the edge and every now and again get it wrong and for that they should pay the price. But I'd much rather have Westwood in the side than not.

Very deliberate assault on the player and as such should recieve at least a 3 match ban.
Moggs was bad but not as bad as the speed and the step by Riley made it look worse...warning possible 1 match ban.
The one that Morley recieved was just as bad and I think he, can't remember the players name, will find himself in front of the panel at Red Hall.

TBH, I don't think it is clear that Westwood gobs off. You see him looking down into his face, but the view is from the top of his head, so IMO he realises the bloke is unconscious and is looking at his face. The reason I make that assumption is becasue Westwood would normally have given the player a facial too, yet you see him pull his hands back, so I do think he realises something's up.

He will get a desreved ban but I don't think he set out to do it as it was poorly timed and mainly caused by the impact of the first Warrington tackler altering the body shape of the Catalans player.

And for the record the cheap shot square into Morleys jaw was just as bad.

There was one on Morley in the same category though in the 2nd half that (I think) escaped puishment - but that's not to take anything away from what Ben did.

That was my take on it Mark, although at the time, I thought your looking at a few games for it. Whilst I think it was an accident, you can't condone that sort of tackle, and the RFL will come down hard I think. If Mathers gets a couple for a trip etc.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Ben get 4/5 games, and he can have few complaints really, it was poor technique, but as fans, we can have few complaints too as we praise him for playing on the edge, meeting the tackler, being aggresive and such, in a fast paced sport, now & again you'll get it wrong, here we have an instance of it.

Westwood is my favourite player but there is no defending that tackle, I don't know what he was thinking. Expect him to get a ban which IMO will be a blow for us because as has been said on here many times he always gives 100%.

IIRC Vinnie Andersons was a legitimate great hit that winded Tickle. Westwood jumped up, swung at his head, knocked him out then ranted at him. Totally different.

i['ve seen it back last night, it was a bad one, whilst at the game i cringed that he'd jumped up but i thought the arm had swung up off the ball as there was two contact noises "thump thump" (that's how quiet it was last night, terrible).

On a slightly different tangent, plenty of grapple tackles from the dragons last night, fakir proper bent gleeson's neck down from behind at one point in the first half, you'd think for an nrl ref he'd be spotting this.

If my sources are correct Benny is going to be punished severely for incident last night. They are making him sign a contract extension.

Benny should have gone over to apologise and make sure the guy was ok.

Im not defending Benny here but the act looked like it was bourne out of frustration.

Benny always gives 100% and never deserves to lose (apart from last night) and maybe the fact that his team mates havent got the same will or desire to win as him ultimately caused him to self destruct.

Or maybe something else had gone on earlier in the game for which benny was seeking revenge although i didn't see anything.
