Humble pie and sour grapes in the same post, nice one. The fact is if wire had approached the first half as they did the second they would have stood a much better chance of success. Perhaps if Bono had come out of the shade and taken off those ridiculous shades he may have better seen what was going on. It’s was said on the TV, and is true, that wire only know one way to play the try to score from every play, throw it about on every occasion, off load at all cost type of play, fine but it doesn’t always work out. At the very least if it’s not coming off just play it simple for a while, get a bit of possession and rhythm going, then do your stuff. PS I didn’t like the wobbly Warrington caption on the tele at half time; I’ve never seen that from the Beeb before, a bit OTT I thought.

no sour grapes and i`ll leave the humble pie for you lot...best team did win no doubt about that and we can all say if only we did this and if only bent ham did this that and the other we may well have been going wembley..as for last years final it was dross regardless of who was playing..

Yes I agree it wasn’t by any means a good game, but I would dare to say it may have been a much better spectacle if the weather had been a lot better, and our opposition better too. You say it was dross, fair comment but if it had been wire instead of us lifting the cup I’d guess then you would have said, like I would in your place, dross maybe but it had a nice cherry (and white) on top for us! After all it’s just another notch on our bed-post of success.

| Quote ="the flying biscuit"ok ignore the fact Mcgiure is running towards the touchline an not towards the posts i assume without reading a physics book it shouldn't have really traveled so far forward? have a look at Mcguires reaction the second the ball leaves his hand he looks straight at Bentham in fact he has two looks before hall crosses the line he knows.....???
if you didn't think to yourself at the time phew I've seen them given... your not right'"
Firstly, Leeds deserved the win, we didn't play any where near good enough.
As regards the pass from McGuire to Hall for the Leeds try that took them 14 - 0 up. I was directly in line with the pass & I really do mean directly in line.
It was at least a yard forward and perhaps close to a yard and a half forward. When Hall touched down I sat back and waited for the Ref to rule it forward. I was not really concerned because I knew what I had seen & naturally thought that at least one of the other three Officials would have seen what I had seen. I was incredulous when Bentham actually gave the try and even then I was expecting one of his Touch Judges to say something.
That decision was a game changer, we went in 14 - 0 down and almost done for, but at 8 - 0 there would have been all to play for.

| I think its the fact that when hall catches the ball he's a yard or two in front of the player who threw the ball, thats what people are moaning about

| I thought it was forward at the game yesterday and have watched it today trying to think as an non wire fan and still think it was forward. Still don't think we played good enough to deserve to be at Wembley. But am amazed that Leeds were only 14 up considering how much possession and territory we gave them.

| Irrespective of whether ther try was forward or not Hall was afforded acres of space to score, it was criminal defending.
I actually thought the benefit of the doubt was more blatant, if that was downward pressure we might as well throw the rulebook away.
Despite what anyone tells me about purposefully deliberate conservative play by Leeds in the opening 25 mins, whatever ludicrous ideas people have about some wonderful gameplan to drain Warrington the truth is that with 81% posession in Wires half they had a penalty goal to show for it, and looked bereft of ideas and not the architrects of a grand plan. Irrespective of all other considerations, that was down to superb defence and not some wonderful training ground masterplan. The benefit of the doubt try and subsequent goal was a heart breaker.

My intelligence isn't in question. Try not to use casual insults, it just reveals your paucity of thought. I did look at the feet, Maguire's are behind the line, Hall's in Front, plus Hall is leaning even further forward to catch the ball. Forward pass.

| Has there ever been a semi final in recent history that has had eight players from each team aged 30 or over?
Leeds - Bailey, Burrow, JJB, McGuire, Sinfield, Peacock, Leuluai & Kirke
Wire - M Monaghan, J Monaghan, Bridge, Waterhouse, Westwood, Asotasi, Wood & Higham
A lot of rebuilding to do in the next couple of years I would think.

| Same could be said for the pass to Atkins on the 4th tackle before Bridges try and Ratchfords grounding wasn't too clear either. I thought they were both OK.

| Momemtum rule works if the passer and catcher are both travelling forward, McGuire was travelling sideways so all you physics experts [Leeds fans can put that to bed.
That said we probably didn't deserve to win but it isn't sour grapes to say a forward pass was forward.

| Seen Halls first try. I would have been upset if we had scored that and it had been disallowed.
The second was a blatant forward pass. We still didn't deserve to win though.

Its a shame Wigan hadn't got past Cas because their youthful side would have run rings round either of these.

It wasn't forward, it is sour grapes, just like most of the crap posted about Hardaker regarding his poor choice of sledging and the BS gouge threads and unrelated comments.

I've been fair on the Hardacker incident, the pass was forward, you deserved the win and haven't disputed that.

| To be fair our defence was awesome for the most part of the game. The difference in the two halves of the game were the half back combination.
Ratchford (as good as he can be) should never be allowed near the ball on the last tackle, his decison making is terrible. In the space of 5 minutes he kicked the ball dead, kicked the ball into the back of someone's head and gave a penalty away on our 10m line for a high tackle. second half, slide him to the centres and give Bridge the command - different game.
The other poor point was Asotasi who for me hasn;t justified his wages in any game. He was left for dead and stepped really easily at lest twice. He passed the ball twice, both times to a Leeds player - Get shut, get shut now.

| I've refrained from commenting until now as I was far too upset / annoyed / disappointed.
Leeds fully deserved to win - as most on here agree
When we gave the 1st penalty away I predicted that Ratch would kick the ball dead at the restart and it would just not be our day.
I think Joel will be disappointed with himself with their first try. (I was) Hall is world class but he had very little room to move in.
Second try was the killer, but it was forward. I too was directly in line.
Leeds deserved to be 14-0 up at half time but to have a try like that allowed to stand was a key point in the game. At 8-0 we still had a chance.
Credit Leeds with their game plan and execution of it, but too many of our players just didn't perform.
Another disappointing thing was the 12k crowd. Time was when there would be a sell-out for a semi.
I was pleased Widnes / Cas was.

That depends on the initial forward motion of the player. The grey area is that, if the player is running forwards, but passes in a backwards motions, it is still possible for the ball to travel forwards.
In the instance of the try, McGuire is running sideways, so its a clear forward pass. I don't have a physics PHD or anything but I'm sure if you pass the ball forward, then it travels forward??
