| To be honest, price needs to pay with his job, his poor team selection is costing us wins. He can not motivate the team, the he decides to put out there. Why persist with Burrell, I haven’t seen anything yet to suggest he will make it in super league, yet he persists in wasting as spot on him. How many coaches drop a player who was our standout in the last 2 games. Maybe he could have caught Tom Johnston in the last few minutes and kept us in the game and raised his already glowing reputation further. What message does it send to up and coming young players, ? One bad game doesn’t end our season, however we have been on a downward spiral since Easter last year. As good as our challenge cup win was and long may it live in our memory, but it should not have papered over the cracks from last year. And please take that smiling buffoon Kirkpatrick with you, he seems to be the goose that laid the golden egg, it’s a bad time to be a wire fan, and I’ve been watching since 1975, I have never been so bored with the style of rugby we are playing. Given the money spent. It is woeful, the book has to stop with the coach, and his staff.

| It's not team selection that is the problem, nor is it fitness. We have a spine of D Clark, Austin, Widdop and Ratchford whom most other teams would die for. The rest of the team were more than good enough- on paper at least. It has to come down to coaching.
Toronto at home this week should be an easy win (famous last words) so it's all about how we perform. I'm not bothered about a cricket score, what I want to see is attacking rugby and 100% effort.

| A bad time to be a Wires fan? NO it really really isn't!
We are the current Challenge Cup holders! From 1974 until 2009 we didn't win a single, major honour....not one!
So get some perspective.
The year we nearly got relegated whilst still playing at Wilderspool was a bad time to be a fan. When we had a team full of nobodys and £. God, some of the absolute dross we used to watch back in the 90's....when saints were putting 80 odd on us regularly. We have no god given right to win every match, and if the team aren't in the right mind set, they will get turned over by anybody in the league. That goes for any team in the league. The salary cap has made it much more even. So please get some perspective.

I was thinking that - this is like a golden age to be a wire fan, team full of internationals and marquee players, relatively recently moved into what many agree to be the best Rugby League ground in the league, winning silverware or at least challenging at the top end.
Your man should try and be a Wakey fan for a few years, that would soon make him appreciate what hes got!

Posts like this are one of the major contributing reasons why we haven't won a GF. Teams like Leeds, Wigan, Saints and Back in the day, Bradford had fans that did and still do demand perfection week in week out. We however have a majority of fans that are ok with mediocrity because as OE puts it, we've come a long way from "some of the absolute dross we used to watch back in the 90's" SO EFFING WHAT?!?
I couldn't give a toss about the 90's and the VDV era etc. That's been and gone, we're not that club anymore. we're a well financed, well backed team full of internationals, blue chip sponsors, one of the biggest supported clubs in the league with a state of the art training facility and a stadium that looks on 80% of the league with shame. FORGET ABOUT WHERE WE'VE COME FROM FFS and wake up.
The sooner our fans start demanding success and demanding nothing but 100% in every game instead of accepting games like Sunday; the sooner this club might actually wake up and take it to the next level.

If you want perspective, may I remind you of the following as stated earlier ....
Isn't it the point that its not 1 game. We are 10 losses from last 12 and 7 months since our last away win.
Even in the mud splattered 'fun' days at Wilderspool after that run of games we would have been calling for the coaches head

Agree, expectations are higher and for good reason including available resources, playing roster, facilities to name but three. Are we getting a good value bang for our buck. No we are not.

I'd like you to define mediocrity in RL terms. Mediocrity is not having a team capable of winning the Challenge Cup. Mediocrity is playing in a stadium from the 60's. Mediocrity is being happy just to stay in the top flight.
We ARE short of players to make us a Grand Final winning team. We did have a team, not that long ago, capable of winning the GF and the fell short to one of the greatest ever RL teams (Leeds).
I am not happy with where we are now....but to suggest its "a bad time to be a Wires fan" is absolute nonsense. We should be doing better, maybe we need another coach to get us to the next level...but as a fan for 40+ years, I totally disagree its a "bad time" to be a wire.

Completely agree. We cannot judge our performances now on where we have come from and be satisfied with that. Not if we want to be the best.
If Price was head coach at Wigan, Saints or Leeds and had achieved those results he would have been out of the door, challenge cup or no challenge cup.
We get the club we deserve.

Imagine you had no boiler (you're from Yorkshire so shouldn't be too hard), you've lived many years with only a fire for in one room that only heats 1/4 of your house. One day you come home and surprise the wife that you've bought a central heating system.
Life is great. The house is warm and cozy all the time. One day though, about 8 years later the boiler breaks down, it's understandable, you got a good run out it, it did a good job and ran its course so you buy a new one.
This boiler is hit and miss though, it was only a cheap budget one because the old boiler you had broke down suddenly, you didn't see it coming so you didn't have the money available for a better one or at worst the same again. The budget boiler you now have only heats up one quarter of the house!
The news is reporting that the coldest day for a century is coming. Remarkably, the boiler suddenly works on the coldest day ever then breaks down again. You're ecstatic that you had heat on the coldest day and survived a humiliating death via frostbite but now you still have to live with a gaff that's still 3/4 cold.
Try explaining to your Mrs that it doesn't matter... You're still better off than you were 10 years ago when you only had a little fire in one room.
Are you though? That little fire may have only heated one room but it consistently did so and never went out. This boiler you now have only heats the same space your only fire did, except the boiler still stutters and cuts out every now and then. The fire didn't do that.

Magic. And this 2nd boiler keeps telling you it knows what type of radiators it's got.

I appreciate what you are trying to say, but golden age is far from the truth, yes we have a few challenge cups under our belt, and given I had to wait from 1975 till 1990 then again till 2009, I appreciate every Wembley visit, but as you say we have a team full of internationals. This is the team I have had to watch playing under Price when and if they choose to do so, they seem to be only able to motivate themselves against. The so called big teams or one off cup games. Give me a team of so called second string players who give their all week in week out for the shirt and the badge. Look at what Watson has done with a team, perceived to be no hopers and relegation fodder at the beginning of last year, a team spending nowhere near the cap. My point being This is a bad time, the here and now. A team the coach can not motivate. I pay good money to watch the lads and appreciate a team that gives me effort, week in week out. I could stay at home, I could decide this is the year I don’t buy another season ticket, but I am ever the optimist. I want the monkey off our back, and want to be there when this happens, I just can not see it happening with Steve Price at the helm. I hope I am proved wrong, however recent form 10 league losses from the last 12 outings is relegation material, hardly a golden time to be a Wire.
I would like to see open expansive rugby, of which we have seen one move of note this year, Charnleys try against Saints, all our other tries have been barge overs from dummy half or BMM onto a short ball. Our attack with a team full of Internationals only seem to break a team down from broken play. This Must be down to coaching.

| It is not ok in any circumstances in a sporting context to accept losing, whether being a participant or a supporter. Once you start to accept losing the rot sets in and it becomes very difficult to remove.
Warrington Wolves are becoming comfortable with losing as the stats clearly show (10 from 12). This has to be addressed immediately otherwise its another year down the drain.

| Quote ="wires1967"I appreciate what you are trying to say, but golden age is far from the truth, yes we have a few challenge cups under our belt, and given I had to wait from 1975 till 1990 then again till 2009, I appreciate every Wembley visit, but as you say we have a team full of internationals.
This Must be down to coaching.'"
I take your point about success bringing its own pressure, but as a fan of a club constantly flirting with relegation, playing out of the worst ground in the league, in full knowledge that if we get relegated we will become semi pro and on a par with Featherstone, it's hard to be too sympathetic tbh. Im just grateful we've stopped lurching from disaster to disaster and having to buy a whole new squad each year

And that both the boiler and the radiators performed brilliantly on the testing bench
