Good effort and good defence for 70 mins, late sin binning did us. Agree with Lefty, Clark our Mom and Johnson showed up really well on debut. We still need a play maker. Other than Steff not gathering the kick in during the first half and getting it right in the second half, I cannot recall any other opportunities to score. Like I've stated before, it will only matter in October, so two more trial games to come.

Not so much Linehams stupidity, more to do with ratboys over reaction and the referee falling for it. Linehams tackle was across the chest of a falling opponent.

Great effort tonight and really agree about Clark being excellent. Patten at least as good as any showings from Roberts, pretty much all season.

Patton puts in one good kick and everyone’s raving about him, we looked void of ideas in attack we didn’t look like scoring all game from open play

Johnson has certainly come on since his appearance in a pre season friendly. Just needs to bulk up a little.

He put in two excellent attacking kicks (Stef should have scored off both) and half a dozen good long kicks. Not sure what you mean by open play. Patton was very good tonight.

That may have something to do with missing two props and having a second row forward at stand off.

If brown and Roberts had played tonight would we of won ...no...Patton did OK as did ginge perhaps a little lacking in the kicking department probably where super Tyrone as an advantage... Clark was superb again.....tonights result flattered that lot...good effort wire at least the effort was there..and a big rap for hicks well reffed

In all honesty, not really. We only conceded the one try and that was when down to 12 men and from a kick. I thought our defence was excellent and we never looked like conceeding with 13 players but our attack was off. At the end of the day we got the win and thats all that matters at this time of year. Your young debut guy Johnson looks like a great prospect but you really need to get rid of Lineham, hes a liability in big games and always comes up with a howler, at least against us. He did it at OT, losing the ball in your own half under no pressure and giving us the field position to win the game.

Could it be you only conceded one try as, being generous, the halfbacks, were the reserve option?

We was going to get beat whether Lineham was yellow carded or not.
Okay not by so much of a score but a defeat but moral result all the same.

Games against the top 4 is 2 wins...1 against a jet lagged Wigan and a water polo game at cas .not good really

There wasn't nothing jet lagged about them when we beat them 16-nil

We beat them in the challenge cup 23 - 0

Strangely for a dead rubber it was entertaining and in a weird way reminded me why our game really is quality and in need of a huge boost. On the other hand as a wire fan we've hopefully got two big games left and that's all that matters...not that arrised on tonights result or the next two. As for our half backs Patton did ok and if he was to come in for anyone it would be Brown as, believe it or not - despite the blinkered drivel, Roberts is by far our best hb. (If anyone queries that just take note of the passing quality of our players). Roberts should've ran more this season (LOTS) more but at least he's always offered a running threat....those two tonight were never going to have that option.

Wonder what Walter thinks of Louis Johnsons performance last night? He looks a great athlete and pleased he has been given a chance and took it. Been ripping it up in the U19s and it’s great we have that pathway into the first team.
Despite not being a fan of Patton i thought he was great tonight.

Defences were right on top and I don't think either side hardly made a break for for 70 minutes. I think it showed just how difficult it is to be creative. We tend to expect half backs to find space etc. but it just doesn't happen. Roberts & Brown do seem to try to create more (and sometimes fail ... of course). I certainly didn't spot a lot of space last night.
I have some sympathy for modern day half backs ... it is so much more difficult than when we had Jacky Edwards & Bobby Greenough.

You’re having a laugh, he was lucky only to get yellow. Not that it should make a difference but If Manfredi had stayed down he’d have got red. He went hunting and certainly didn’t miss.
