Under Smth he seems to have learnt when to play, and when not to. We've got the balance right now with Lee, Still a genius though. He has never got anywhere near the credit he deserves, not just for us, but thoughout world rugby.

What was more pleasing were his comments post match. Very mature and the more I hear from the camp the more I believe this club is being transformed by Smith. Sensible comments about defence, team ethic, consistency all scream professionalism. Like he said we don't want to win 46-36, its about defence and entertaining rugby.

We need to start a campaign to persuade Smithy to give him another contract!

been a critic of lee briers in the past..even wanted the guy to go..under smith he`s like a new signing...glad ive been proved wrong...give him a new contract now...early candidate for man of steel???

i was pondering this last night! IF we have a fantastic season, Briers is gonna be one of our standout players, so with good odds, i believe this could be a cracking bet!!

How difficult will we be to play with Lee kicking though with Richie to collect or a kick to the wing with either Chris Riley or Matt King to collect.

Briers needs to work on his kicking game; its non-existent

Did you watch the same game last night? Who kicked for Grix's try? Briers. Who kicked for Riley's try? Briers. Who kicked the most in general play for us? Briers.

Unlike a lot of Wigan fans, Briers is a player I've always rated. If only he had the same dedication as say Shaun Edwards or Mike Gregory how good could he have been?

I'm a bit split on that one tbh Rogues. It has certainly looked at times that he has had issues, but then so has Sean Long.Fortunately for Long he has had the benefit of playing for a leading team for most of his career.

Had Briers played in a better Wire team, his class would have shown and he would have had more caps IMO.

Of course it would be great if all players had the commitment and effort of the players you mentioned, but they were freaks, and way more professional than the majority of players from recent history.

Look at Andrew Johns. He is hardly a shining example, but his RL has spoken for itself. I always think Briers' off field reputation has been over played simply due to the fact that his form hasn't always been that good. Look at some of the players he has had to work with though, and that may explain more IMHO.
