Currie has been terrible these last few weeks, as bad as Patton but doesn't cop half the flack.

42 metres and 21 tackles he made on Saturday. That's nowhere near good enough for a player of his ability.

For context Joe Westerman made 132 metres and 38 tackles.

Currie is all about knocking off gametime. Comparing him to Westerman is hardly like for like as Westerman is playing 13 and will get through more work. Though granted I dont doubt that you could compare him to any other second rower on the pitch and come off worse on tackes and metres. Currie has never been a hard work second rower, he doesn't help out with the heavy stuff in the middle, he never has - its not his game. His game is all about running good lines and putting players in to space. We've only had glimpses of it so far, but dropping him or sending him to Rochdale isn't the asnwer for him. Currie isnt costing us games, he just isn't the pre injured version.... yet.

Jack Johnson is the one, played on the wing recently but has also played full back.

Yeah i agree with Mamo straight in at Fullback and Goodwin to centre with Lineham on to the wing. I really like Matt Davis at 13 and would like to see him there again. I'd like to see Louis Johnson get a game soon as he looked immense in the one game i saw him play against Wigan. Swap Currie out for him for a game

Currie has proven his ability in a Warrington and England shirt. We know he was one of the best in the league in his position. Dec has not, nowhere near hence flak.

Injuries aside and I'm not dismissing them completely out of hand, but, the fact that Currie has as one poster put it "proven his ability in a Warrington and England shirt" makes it all the more disappointing.

Whereas the general view is that Patton's ability is limited hence the reason he cops the "flak" is surely a flawed logic to some extent he's delivering what we all expect if not hope for?

Anway back on thread if Ratchford is out then Mamo at FB for a game until he's injured then Johnson at FB where he coped quite well from memory in his early starts in 'the Russell years'.

BC has offered no attacking threat so far, hopefully we will see the green shoots of recovery soon.

Fair point. You could flip it the other way though and say Currie is an England international who, as you say has proven his ability and how good he can be. Also he has made almost double the appearances Patton has and therefore should be performing better and deserves as much criticism as Patton is receiving.

That's a bit of a cop out. He's fully fit now and has been for months. Having a major knee injury shouldn't affect your attitude and effort.

Dec in his entire career with Warrington 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 has ranged from ineffective, anonymous, perfunctory to downright poor. On the other hand Currie was exceptional before injury (making 2016 Dream Team with 17 tries, and 2017 World Cup)

In 2019 Currie has played 10 matches in his recovery since coming back from two (actually 3 if we recall) serious injuries to the same knee.

I think this explains the different attitudes towards him currently. Is he back to the standard he was pre-injury - no. Do I think he is still on his recovery journey - absolutely.

so since the injury in the defeat to Hull, we have beaten both last seasons grand final and challenge cup winners, conceding just 18 points and scoring 60.

Can you make a case for saying we are a better all round team, without Ratchford at full back?

Has Currie now silenced any of his doubters with regards his defence and desire with his defensive performances over the last few weeks? Was immense vs Wigan and that tackle vs Hull KR was exceptional and showed a huge amount of desire when we had been under extreme pressure for several sets.

You don't just go from being injured to being fully fit with an injury(s) like he has had, he is fit enough to play, but it will still take time to get back in to the swing of it. He's doing fine with lots of improvement still to come i'm sure. Give the kid time, he's earnt that much.

Of course a major injury can impact on attitude. Every tackle you have the worry the knee will go again. Currie has never been an aggressive player at the best of times so it’s more noticeable. He’s doing fine. Not letting the side down, just lacking that attacking class that he bought pre injury. Hopefully saving it for the play offs.
