It's not stale, it's as fresh as the last defeat. As the season worsens and the targets drop (Aim LLS -> Top4 -> Top8 -> Avoid relegation and out of CC) it should make the case even stronger than it was.

Remember when we were 0 from 6 Smith and Russell came out with the "we can go on an unbeaten run". It's just more BS to pacify us, like these new signings are going to make it all better too.

If we are relegated I can imagine Smith coming out with "We are hurting, we have some busted bodies but we will regroup in the week" in the post match conference after the defeat to Halifax away.

Even though you're trolling, I'd agree with your post IF this was one freak bad season a la Leeds. It isn't. It's a a sign of the slow decline since 2014. Last year was a better season on that slide, but the league was poor and we benefitted from the inspiration that Sandows x-factor provided and also an easy cup run. The reality is we didn't win anything when we should have.

So no, the best thing isn't to regroup after the last game of the season and work out what wrong. The best thing is to start finding a replacement to inspire the squad to avoid relegation and then start afresh in the off-season.

It's interesting to note that both Saints and Warrington were in trouble at the start of the season. Saints made the change and will comfortably make the 8 and probably have a shot at the 4. Whereas the strong and stable Warrington may find themselves 11th in the league if Leigh win on Thursday.

I'm not trolling... I've had it up to my neck with them this season. Gutted I'd forked out a season ticket for four of us to watch players seemingly throwing games to get the coach sacked... Well he's got a point in that regard hasn't he? It's a race to the bottom. Wigan in the 80s early 90s encouraged teams to lift their game - and most of them did. I'm not chunnering about the salary cap because I'm a Wire fan - i've seen us in worst positions in the league many a time but turned up to watch as I'd be entertained by quality players on both sides. The current standard is dreadful and that's not a pop at Salford, Cas etc as it was dreadful last season when we nearly won the lot.

Evening out of the league might be for some but i found Wigan's dominance far more enthralling than 12 below average sides scrapping about.

These days it is more important than ever to keep key players fit for key games even if that means playing with a weakened team for other games.
From its resurgent days when Wigan won everything with being the only professional team in Britain with all the best players money could buy, Rugby League is in dire straits once more & what is affecting our game is lack of talent to compete as a big sport. Rugby Union turning pro put the boot in our game because,instead of having a ready made pool of talent in amateur RU , we suddenly ran out of available players & started losing ours because Union was paying more money. Add to this the lack of talent coming over from Oz & it is obvious that our game is slowly dying with the powers that be lurching from one desperate measure to the next.

If we had kept the cap in line with the cost of living it would help massively the marquee signing helps a little but has its draw backs and clubs are seemingly reluctant unable or don't want to say they aware using it to avoid potential disharmony in the squad ??

I don't know how it would work but we had more silverware abailable previously even a sevens tournament in the off season with a mix of the youngsters n a few first teamers idk Just throwing ideas out there as the current ideas n thinking of appeasing sky at whatever cost is just not working !!

You know Dezzie, why not put some lower division games on free to air tv ? Raw Rugby League & let the people of Britain see our game.
It amazes me how we struggle to get viewing time for RL but we have saturation coverage of snooker,football,golf & tennis on free to air tv.

I think you have hit the nail on the head. And the constant changes to the competition format look like the death throw as the RFL take desperate methods to try and keep it looking fresh.

We need to keep this in perspective.. Wakefield have a better team than us this year, the table doesn't lie. They're sitting pretty in 5th and are hard to beat at home.. A few decisions went against us today but it's not the end of the world.. we need to stay strong now and just rough it out in the middle 8s.

You are playing like us last year. Good team on paper, confidence shot. Plenty of games last year I was genuinely sure we could turn it round and was disappointed time after time. Middle 8s are awful and we are not clear yet but I think likely you have enough to finish in top 3 of middle 8s.

Im starting to get really annoyed with Moran now, i know we dont get to know what goes on behund the scenes but this is beyond a joke now.

Serious question, is it possible for us to bring in a new coach? Do the coaching setups salaries count on the cap so we have no space to employ replacements? I'm really struggling to find any reason why agar and Smith haven't been replaced. I wouldn't be upset if Smith stayed at the club in some capacity, he'll be remembered as a legend when we have forgotten about this current bilge.
