There was a bin wagon down our road today to collect bags .
problem was they didn't tell anyone it was coming ! what a waste of time effort and money !

They have only gritted the main roads (imagine them trying to get a gritter down some of the side roads???), the majority of the main roads are now clear anyway, or full of slush so not too bad to drive. I am not bothered about the bins, I went to the Woolston tip yesterday with all my extra bin bags (4 mile drive but not bothered), all of it was clear of snow. Would prefer to do that than have a bin wagon slide into my car trying driving down my roador have a bin man break his neck for the sake of my rubbish!

Woolston Grange Avenue has definitely not been gritted. Last week was like a scene from Ice Road Truckers. Looks like the Ice Road has broken up today.

Oh, and whilst I'm on, what about all the favourable treatment for the South Warrington Tories? Centre of Stockton Heath has even had the pavements cleared, yet Fearnhead shops was like an ice rink yesterday. Absolute disgrace!!!

Drove to Widnes town centre on Saturday and the difference in the state of the Roads was very noticeable just a few minutes out of Penketh and the roads were much more clearer.....

did they get a helping hand from the chemicals in the air or is Halton Council a bit more organised....

So its okay for us to get out but not the binmen - how convenient. Perhaps they should set up a collection point in front of the town hall. perhaps then they might decide to work like everyone else has too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

was told yesterday that a taxi driver charged an old lady £30 return from Padgate Lane to the Hospital because of the weather last week.

thats shocking exploitation

She should report him ! and refused to pay or even phoned the company whilst still in the Taxi to ask if the fare charged was correct ,
Your right it is Shocking and totally unacceptable !

i know Padders but little old ladies are easy prey, i'm sure me & you would have been charged the normal rate

Being a taxi driver myself it makes me angry when I hear about this sort of stuff going on it bring us all into disrepute , the minority spoiling it for the many driver whom do not overcharge, I have heard a lot of horror stories of passengers all directed at a certain section of taxi drivers if you get my drift . my advice is don't use them !

How is WA4 covered, not one of the collection points is south of the Mersey.

those refuse collection points on Tuesday 12 January are for residents whose normal bin collection is on Tuesdays

Wednesdays arrangements will be published as soon as possible according to council Website....

our normal collection is Thursday so i'm hoping for a more local point to be listed tommorrow.

Some witty posts on this. As far as I'm concerned, people need to lighten up and grasp some realism. Until this snow clears up adequately then large vehicles are going to have difficulty achieving anything. I live in an apartment and our communal bins are full, as is the compound in which they are stored due to stray binbags. There isnt realy a great deal that can be done though. I mean, nobody can change the weather! So unless theres a way of making a telephone call to God, we may aswell just accept it.

If every body cleared the road outside there own home the back roads would be clear ,problem is ur all bone idol and can't be bothered I suggest you all shut up ,pick up a spade and clear outside your houses yourselves like I have !
And we can all get back to rugby talk SIMPLES !

Thing is though Padders if you clear the road and footpath outside your house, and somebody slips and injures themselves or there is a car accident, your liable to be sued because we live in a compensation culture. The bizarre twist in the law is, if you and the council do nothing then no one is liable.

Cleared all the snow and ice from the road outside my house, then the little old lady from next door asked me to clear hers....2nd easiest £30 i've ever made.

Just blame the clear up on a freak solar flare that targeted the outside of your house , then its an act of god ! SIMPLES !

Ballater Drive in Cinnamon Brow is possibly the worst road in Cinnamon Brow at the moment, genius place to put a collection point.

To be fair to the bin men though, a wagon was outside the Millhouse at 7.59am this morning!
