Maybe the incumbent coach fancies Gidley as assistant/on-field general?

Whilst most people on here see him as some bumbling Clive Dunn figure in a half backs jersey, his abilities and knowledge of the game down under are (quite rightly) more revered.

All under the watchful eye and guidance of Agar and "Mr Warrington" the Warrington Borough Council head honcho.

If that unlikely scenario is the case (no slight on Gidley), don't you think the club could do some active press management and announce the incumbent coach first ....

I imagine that more likely it's Simon Moran speaking to Andrew Johns and drawing up a shortlist of coaches and players. The others then do the donkey work.

Point of interest, but why would we want to go running off to get Johns' thoughts on anything? It's just his opinion.

These pre season coaching clinics he's done for the last few years have hardly been fruitful. Our recruitment from down under hasn't been much cop, in the last half dozen years. Great player he was. This doesn't make him a scout/genius at coaching.

The club should let the John's thing go, now. Move on.

I hope we can "refresh" the warm weather training programme too if this season is anything to go by.

The 2018 recruitment is making the Pomeroy signing look like we signed Gene Miles.

I hope this wasn't the same recruitment team that came up with Roy Asotasi. Having said that Johns was still on drugs at the time.

I do remember Johns being asked who out of our youngsters had impressed him in pre season and who he felt could go on to "make it"

Not exactly shrewd, these Aussie legends, when it comes to scouting.

With Johns - I think it's more his agent that we speak to (John Fordham?) as he has good connections down under allegedly.

Ah, the off-season. You gotta love it.

The negs on here are having a field day; like a pig in the proverbial. Think I'll duck out for a while if this is how it's gonna be, and seems plenty of others have. Have a good Xmas and see you all in the new year: don't stress too much about it guys, it'll be alright

What a strange post.... bit childish but each to their own.

You should come back on Christmas day and the negs and the happy clappers could put aside their differences and for one day all get along like the English and the Germans did in world war one. .

Any hint that our season has not quite been one of our best seems to attract the thought police & the least said about our coach & player selections for next year the better. I think we should arrange secret meetings.

Strange how 2 people can see things so differently. I haven't seen anybody suggest the season was anything short of rubbish. I don't recall seeing anyone saying TS should've stayed (only the timing was disagreed upon). I have seen any attempt to highlight one or two positives derided (not sure I would go so far as to call them "thought police" but any contrary view does seem encourage personal attacks by some).
A bit of tolerance on both sides would go a long way, otherwise only a few posters will be left, they will all be of the same opinion (which cuts out the need for your secret meetings) but would make this forum boring and sterile, a bit like our season.

Just Stockholm Syndrome setting in. Your fellow fans need your help to climb over this confusion wall for life-after-Smith.
