It might be £1.50 for Tetleys in the club or £1.70 for Carlsberg but it's cheap and nasty stuff, in the nicest way the new(ish) bars around Springfield Street are trying to be a bit more upmarket and attract a different clientele or those who appreciate the good stuff. Like saying why buy vintage wine when Bargain Booze has lambrini for a quid!

Its a nice bar, the Brooklyn is pricey but the rest are reasonable, they are getting cask ciders in too so that will be good.

Like I said, different clientele. Why spend £20 on a bottle of half decent wine when you can buy Lambrini for a quid. Why anyone would buy lager in a real ale bar is beyond me anyway. However if those prices keep the usual Carlsberg drinking morons you see in town away I'm all for it. The real ale train was ruined by people drinking lager purely with the intention of getting bladdered and I suspect that is something the Sankey Street end of town is keen to avoid.

If your happy paying 1.75 a pint, then go for it and enjoy your drinking in wetherspoons with its chavs ans scumbags and the all day pot barflies, killing time for nothing.

And just to reinforce that point, I've just walk ed past the looking glass seeing some bleeding chav puking up on one of the tables outside. Cracking that.

I prefer Chez Yed, it's cheaper, the company is good, and the likelihood of getting glassed is minimal.

I don't drink, but I still enjoy visiting "proper" pubs for the ambience and social aspect, so I'm glad somewhere offerring something different seems be taking off. I assume they don't do Yorkshire Tea on draught so I might have to give this place a miss though.

Yes, the price of beer sounds ludicrous but when you're getting charged £2 minimum for a pint of coke in most town centre establishments these days it's all relative I suppose.

I'd still rather pay £3.80 for a pint of decent pint of ale than £3.80 for a coffee from Starbucks.

Talking of food, I assume if this place is trying to appeal to the authentic drinker they do traditional bar snacks? Specifically packets of nuts hanging on a picture of a nubile young lady and teasingly obscuring her rude bits. Pork Scratchings, Bombay Mix (for when the booze is starting to hit home), Cheesey Moments and Scampi Fries (not a wise choice when you're on the pull incidentally unless you fancy female fishmongers) and for those really it-seemed-like-a-good-idea at the time evenings, cockles and vinegar obtained from some harassed passing vendor who really doesn't get paid enough for this nonsense.
