99 now. Anyway i thought this forum open to any member from any club. All i am doing is defending my team after reading the tripe you write about us, if you cant take goodbye.

Be honsest the percieved tactic has only been noticed in the last 2 seasons. Wigan were hated long before then!!

However bending of the rules is what moves the game forward. Look how quickly wire want to play the ball. It leads to penalties being given to them by giving the impression other teams (not only wigan) are holding them down. Also how often does it lead to the ball being played off the mark? Plenty. At the top SL is tight which is why teams need to find new ways to get ahead. Coaches are earning there money for once.

To be fair the original poster of this thread was giving it big time on the cherryandwhite board a week before the final. Especially when he got his knickers in a twist re Hock getting banned for a push or punch thrown in the 51st minute of our game the week before the final. I think he actually had an orgasm thinking Hock was going to be banned for the CC final. It was like it was the moment he believed Leeds was going to win the final so he thoght he would join RLfans.com and taunt everyone on the forum. Then Hock got nothing and Hansen got a visit to Red Hall he started to go nuts again.

Now needless to say we did not see or here anything from him until you lot gave us a beating. Its sad that a supporter of the Once Might Rhinos has to depend on another team stopping Wigan. Maybe its the sign that Leeds as a major force has gone for now. Maybe it was the Yorkshire weather who knows.

There is quite a considerable difference though. Holding down is illegal, wanting to get a quick play the ball isn't. A lot of what some people percieve as good defensive coaching isn't coaching at all. It's simply pushing the laws to the limit, and sometimes beyond that limit.

I was thinking the same thing JC. I am just going into my tenth year of coaching and it would be the easiest thing in the world to coach all those dirty tricks and sly digs that we all know but far harder to coach open, attractive rugby played hard but fair within the laws of the game.

I really don't like the Maguire 'Wigan Way' but suspect it will be carried on by Wane.

I can't see how trying to get a quick play the ball is bending the rules. I don't think the ARL will put up with Maguires tactics next season. Maybe then we'll see how good a coach he is.

There was an article a while back in an australian paper, and they were moaning about him coming back.. 'now there will be another melbourne-esque team.... lying on and killing the game and a spectacle'.... it went on to say 'lets hope for the good of the game he fails at souths, disappears back to england and takes his brand of rugby with him'.... harsh words from his homeland.
