I'm here now, all the shops are closed shutters down and at least 80 police, they are stopping anyone between the ages of 10-30 and questioning them.

forget this police brutality rubbish, the police should be armed, and be able to do what they need to in order to do thir job properly. being armed may actually make people respect the police and fear them. if people cry 'police brutality', the police should have the full backing of the government. this country seems too soft to me compared to what i have heard about other countries police methods.

About 14 years ago i saw a lad moon a civil guard in Spain to which the response was a crack over the head then a few more on the legs, his mate ran in to stop it to which another one hit him across the arm, he stumbled back and got a few kicks to the ribs, then both chucked in the back of a van and carted off.

That's how it used to be here. You messed with the police at your peril. I was dead against the police for a good while following the miners strike but I hate the way it's gone now.

Had to laugh at a protester/looter in Hackney. Raided a JD Sports shop and ran out with a hand full of tracksuits.

Now I'm no expert on looting, but if you was going to loot a clothes shop, surely you'd have a go at Burtons or better, not some chavvy sports shop.

I can sympathise with this attitude of anger at the protesters and wanting the police to stop pussy footing around and enforce law and order properly but this is a dangerous way of thinking.

During the 1980s we had the Toxteth riots and then Heysel. The general view was that scousers, especially football fans, were trouble makers and hooligans and the police should get tough with them and not mess around.

So then when you're policing the Hillsborough terraces and there appears to be problems in one of the stand what do you do? Take tough action and make sure they don't riot onto the pitch. They must be trouble makers?

I see the pillocks in Birmingham have spotted that if enough of you smash your way into a shop, you can take stuff for free. The looting seems to be spreading from the idiotic communities in London to other areas.

We could start at the club shop, work through Tesco and if anyone has any free fingers rock on down to PC World and Mothercare?

I do worry about our lacking-in-identity community of chavs/lunatics. I know some make light of the situation, but we have a very large core of youths/young men that willingly do what others like them do in big cities. If they stick the tele on and see their idols from the nearer cities kicking off on in the streets, the light bulb will ping and off they go, like sheep, probably chanting what area of the town they're from whilst they're at it.

Scumbags like these don't need an excuse to be what they are, they just have to see somebody 'cooler' doing it and off they go.

Scarcely believable how bad it is, and one finds it hard to see how the trouble will come to a quick conclusion.

Hard to believe that London is a city whereby embassies are now warning their citizens against travelling to. A humbling jolt back to reality, and a message that we in the UK are not invincible.

Thoughts with all affected and especially those whose businesses, lives and communities have been affected.
