Well, the club need at least one big name signing so it doesn't sound unreasonable surely ?

Using my investigative skills learned from watching many episodes of Midsommer Murders I agree it could be Kyle Eastmond.

- We need a centre. Rhys has not quite hit the spot with his attacking game and there were rumours that his contract would not be extended. And Atkins has been brilliant this year but he aint getting any younger.

- There were rumours of Wire discussions with Eastmond 18 months - 2 years ago.

- The recent RFL rules allow for a player returning from RU to get a 50% dispensation from the salary cap. That would knock Eastmond's salary back to about £150k and still allow us to bring in another big name. The three clubs that spoke up for the rule changes btw were Wigan, Salford and Wire. And of course we know the guy in the RFL who drafted the proposals fairly well. I think we will also get a dispensation for the signing of Taylor Prell next year.

Johnny Davidson of League Express has just tweeted that us and Saints and in for Ben Barba.

But is he not a Full Back and what would happen with Mr Ratchford then???

Barba is a Sandow-style risk but I'd sooner spend money like that on him than Eastmond who could be too old by the time he settles back into RL centre-play. At least Barba has only been out of the game a short while.

The money Eastmond would want (if rumours are to believed) you might as well go whole hog and try to snatch Owen Farrell. Desperately unlikely, but money talks and grandfather works at the club.

More likely scenario, it's someone an aging Aussie who is being squeezed out of a club due to wage demands

My comments were aimed at 'Or Thane'. For some reason I've got mixed up and thought he said 'Barba and Turner'. So my apologies on that one.



But in any case, Eastmond signing for us would still warrant a huge press release. He may not be League ready, he may not even be that good after being away for so long... but it would still be a huge signing.
