Ratchford has been tried in the halves and he doesn't have it in him. OK in support or if a gap opens but he does not have the vision nor passing game to open up defences. That's what we've signed Roberts for. Mitch Brown is a decent full back or I'd give Jack Johnson a chance. Ratchford is probably a better bench option that Morgan Smith - the latter puzzles me, as I thought we'd signed him as a half-back but he seem to be deputy hooker these days.

Ratchford turns 30 in a couple of months... slightly ridiculous idea to turn him into the the next SOL who was always very good defensively, and has a much better rugby brain and passing game that Ratchford come dream of.

SOL has a much bigger frame, and hasn't been as skinny as Ratchford since he was 17.

Ratchford is a jack of all trades, not good enough in any.... lacks that devastating speed/ power you need in the backs, and lacks the brains to make up for it.

everytime i watch ratchford play, im left with the feeling that 'he just doesn't fancy it'.

Especially at fullback.... on a number of occasions the chance to put his body on the line and prevent a try, is often met with indecision, a lethargic chase and a half hearted attempt at a tackle.... i just dont think he fancies the hard stuff.

Just do what Bennet did ....Put him on the wing.

Never once have doubt Ratchford or slagged him off....I'll take this opportunity with my 'told you so cap on)...he is the most talented player we have...no case to answer from Roberts as yet).

When you say the “majority” do you mean of posters on here or of Warrington supporters in general? Based on people I speak to I’m not sure this forum is a true reflection of general feeling, but that isn’t a particularly large group either.

I don't doubt most people consider Ratchford to be a very good player. The issue is that he is not exceptional in any specific position and we seem to be trying to accomodate him when we have potentially better alternatives in that position. I don't know the answer as I wouldn't like to play against him.

He was very good tonight and if anything his kick for atkins second try makes me want to see him given another go in the halves.

I have always liked Ratchford & he showed his strong points tonight in attack But i think he is wasted by being shoe horned into the fullback position ,which he isn't. No doubt Mr Price has got the gen off previous team sheets & club coaching staff that "Ratch is a utility player who we have put at fullback" ,but after a few games he may decide that Ratch is better in a more attacking role.

'One swallow doesn't make a summer' however and only time will tell if he can put in consistent performances at FB.

After seeing some of Atkin’s passes at right centre last night and Westwood’s lack of fitness, pace and impact. I’d put Ratchford at right centre and Atkins at 13, see how it goes. Mitch Brown can play FB

Said it before and I'll say it again, I don't think there's a more attacking position on the pitch than a modern day full back. Gives him the freedom to roam all over the field rather than be stuck to one side, and link in to the line where he sees fit. The NRL generally put their best attacking players at full back - he's our best attacking player, let's leave him in a position that allows us to get the ball in to his hands anywhere on the field.

He's been far more successful at full back than he has in the halves, full back gives him a little bit more time on the ball, which I think he needs, he's not an organiser, so shouldn't be in the halves.

As for centre, I've no doubt he would make a decent centre, but we saw a very good defensive display from both our centres tonight - that isn't a strong point of Ratchfords game, I think big centres/2nd rowers running at him would have a field day.

Defence, Alffi, & that is why i don't rate him at fb. I have been thinking for 2 or 3 years that Atkins should be in the pack & either put Ratch at centre or i would even try Ratchford at loose forward & put M.Brown in the centre & try Jack Johnson at fb. That would give us a fast & mobile pack & more options off the bench.

We all have our own opinions obviously, I just feel his defensive frailties would be more exposed in the centre than the odd occasion he's left with a one on one tackle at full back.

He defended very well at full back yesterday to be fair, held a couple up over the line.
