Maybe it was because I had low expectations of him when he joined, but he is playing a million times better for us than he ever did for Wigan.

Oh joy, another Mathers discussion with Wigan fans.

We can argue and argue and argue about the Mathers/Gleeson saga but we wiill never agree, you think you got the better deal because you won a trophy that year, we think we did because Gleeson has improved the way we play as a team overall, before him we used to just go down the Carmont/Richards side, now we have options on both sides and you only have to look at his wingers scoring ratio this year (Roberts and Goulding) to see he aint doing much wrong! ATEOTD your happy with the deal, so are we. No point in arguing over it.

On the Gleeson thing, I still don't think you have seen the best of him yet, not sure your halves use him as well as Briers did tbh. He has only 1 assist to his name this season which is not what you would expect from him. He seems to be being used as a decoy an awful lot.

Briers has more quality in 1 hand than Tommy does all together sadly. Even though Tommy plays his heart out for us week in week out he doesn't have the same passing game that Briers has or the kicking threat that Briers approaches. Sam however in future years and this season especially has started to develop his game and it's very clear with his try assists. As they always say, players fans only ever call the good ones regarding Briers. I agree we haven't seen the best of Gleeson but he seems to be more settled in this year and getting a lot more ball out wide than last year though. He's put some good performances this year whereas last year we didn't see him to much unless he went looking for it himself.

I've always liked Gleeson, and even if he isn't involved with the flashy plays, he will do the hard work and be very good in defence. Your right wing has been scoring and if that is through using Gleeson as a decoy, then it's all good. At some stage this may have to change and rather than the likes of O'Loughlin missing him out, you will have to get the ball to him and he could start doing some damage with the ball in hand.
